PRAYER REQUESTS

For the week of October 4, 2010

What you should want most is God’s kingdom and doing what he wants
you to do. Then he will give you all these other things you need. So don’t
worry about tomorrow. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Tomorrow will have its own worries. Matthew 6:33&34 (ERV)

Praises!
Praise the Lord because he is good! His faithful love will last forever! Psalms 118:1

• Update from Jack Pook sent Tuesday evening (10/5). We went to the clinic on
Monday because of the excruciating pain Nancy has been encountering in her throat. We
received what appears to be some very good news. Nancy does not have an infection it is just a
real bad inflammation. The doctor prescribed a heavy dose of steroids that we crush and put
down the CorPak. The doctor stated that the right vocal chord (the one that was paralyzed with
the carotid artery dissection) has begun to make some minor movement (Praise God!). He
further suggested that if Nancy shows some progress on the swallowing test he would
recommend the removal of the feeding tube. Tomorrow is a big day for us. Nancy has several
appointments including the swallow study in the morning. The swallow study will determine if
there has been enough progress to place Nancy on a liquid diet. Please pray that this will be the
case. If the swallow study does not go well we will be back to ground zero with some difficult
options ahead of us.
o Do we leave the feeding tube in and hope that the inflammation does not get any worse?
o Do we let them give her an injection in the vocal chord with hope that this opens up the
chord or do we leave the feeding tube in for a few more weeks hoping that progress is
made and that the injection will not be needed?
o If all else fails do we consider the option of removal of the feeding tube and the possibility
of a Peg Tube?
Luke 18:1 “Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray
and not give up”.

No matter what faces us tomorrow (Wednesday) we know the Lord will be with us and whatever
His will is in this matter it will be done. While we are at peace in this matter we are both in
agreement that Option C is really not an option. It appears the doctor we saw on Monday (who
we will see again tomorrow after the swallow study) is also in agreement with us. Please pray
that all of this a mute point and that the swallowing study shows the necessary progress needed
to remove the feeding tube outright once and for all.

Thanks for all the prayers and continued support of our family. We appreciate everything and
have been greatly blessed by so many during our trial. (10/5)
