Scene 1 – It’s a Wonderful Life

I could break your heart,

With a work of art,
But instead I am stuck here.

I could bring your eyes,

To see the skies,
But instead I am stuck here.

Behind these walls,

I’m locked away,
Hidden from an audience.

(spoken) Can you believe it? Sent to prison! What for you might say? Well have you all heard of
Reeva Steenkamp? I was playing hide and seek with her when…….. Woops!!

So here I am. Locked in prison. With all these other fine gents and ladies. Look at them all going
about their businesses. Over there are the gangsters! A polite and surprisingly well-read bunch of
people. Ah there go the Aryans, clearly getting ready for Halloween. What a diverse mix of people
they are. Oh and look there is an A.A meeting! Oh no, the Irish are having breakfast.

Now what you might be wondering is why everyone seems to be split into groups. Well, this prison is
a little different from normal prisons. If anyone has seen the TV series, Oz, then you will understand
that this place is a cheap knock-off and very little imagination went into the concept. For those of
you that didn’t spend the end of the millennium what happened to the black Ghostbuster’s career,
then I’ll tell you.

In order to control gang violence within the prison, it was thought that there should be equal
representation from all castes, creeds and races within the prison. In this way no group could
become too powerful and attack another group. However, as we are about to see, “The Best Laid
Plans Of Mice And Men, Often Go Awry”.

Whistle Blows and Prisoners Groan

It’s time to face the day

It’s time my troubles flew away
It’s time for me to go and see
What’s on this day’s spree.

It’s time for us to see who is on top

While we eat the morning slop
Hopefully someone will be dead
And then I can step into his stead!

My fingers are crossed,

It could have been me,
My chances for rule aren’t tossed,
Soon it’s time to see!

Oh and I know it’s my time!

It’s my time!
To sit…..On top!

We all survived the night.
It’s a crying shame.
