Existing provision is with high intensity encapsulated lens type
reflective sheeting (Class-B: Type-III as per IRC:67) fixed over 2mm
thcik aluminium sheeting on an angle iron post of 25 x 25 x 4mm
supported on a mild steel angle iron post 75mm x 75mm x 6mm for
the following signs sizes:

streaks and holes and conforming to the MORTH specifications
B Addition of hot applied thermoplastic Transverse lines :
1) 5mm thick Transverse yellow bar marking for creating Gateway
effect/Psychological effect for speed calming at vulnerable location
of highway as depicted in the fig-9.4 and fig.9.9 of the IRC:SP:73-
2015 (Manual for 2LPS)
ii) Providing and laying of hot applied thermoplastic compound 5 mm 5.00mm thick Yellow
thick including reflectorising glass beads not less than 400 gms per transverse line for
sq.m of surface area as per Cl.803.6.3 of MORTH specification, speed claming at
thickness of 5.0 mm is exclusive of surface applied glass beads as per accident prone,
IRC:35 .The finished surface to be level, uniform and free from hazardous locations

Addition of Rumble strips Item for Accident prone and Black Spot location :
Rumble Strips
Provision of 15 nos. rumble strips covered with premix bituminous
carpet, 15 mm high at centre, 250mm wide placed at 1m centre to
centre at approved location to control speed, marked with white
strips of road marking paint.
The rate per sqm of premix carpet and road marking may be
adopted from Chapters ..... respectively for the quantities calculated
from approved drawings.
***Rumble strips are seen to be provided in various manners with
excess thickness over 15mm, few nos. (3 to 5nos.) and at very close
spacing causing inconvenience to traffic. As such Item with
specification and drawing may be supplemented in the SOR for
propoer guidance.
 APWD Rural Road has incoporated the above in their latest SOR.
A Drawing for speed breaker on minor road and rumble strips has
been enclosed here. Same may be modified and enclosed in the
SOR.
Item No. Addition of Speed breaker Item for minor road at Intersection :
Type-A Road Hump/Speed Breaker.
Provision of Rounded hump type of speed breaker of radius 17.0 m,
width 3.5m and height 0.10 m at minor arms of uncontrolled
intersection of minor road with Major road for general traffic at
preferred crossing speed of 25.0 kmph. Placement, specification of
material and construction integated with the provision of Road sign,
Road marking and panitng shall be as per IRC:99, IRC:35 and
approved drawing.
The rate per sqm of material of construction of hump, Road signs,
road marking and paniting may be adopted from suitable Chapters
respectively for the quantities calculated from approved drawings.
Type-B Road Hump/Speed Breaker supplemented with ramp
Provision of table type hump of width 2.0m and height 0.10 m at
minor arms of uncontrolled intersection of minor road with Major
road supplemeted with 1.5m long ramp (1:20) on either side for
passage of larger and heavier vehicle (where their prportion is quite
high) at preferred crossing speed of 25.0 kmph. Placement,
specification and construction of hump integrated with the required
Road sign, Road marking and panitng shall be as per IRC:99, IRC:35
and approved drawing.
The rate per sqm of material of construction of hump, Road signs,
road marking and paniting may be adopted from suitable Chapters
respectively for the quantities calculated from approved drawings.
Addition of Speed breaker Item for at highly vulnerable reaches of
the highway as per IRC:SP: 73
Type-C Provision of Speed Breakerat at highly vulnerable reaches of the
highway (special treatment) for varying passing speeds for speed
calming measures/ gateway effect as per specification of the Section- For accident Prone
9 (fig.9.4 & 9.8 ) of IRC:SP-73. Road sign, Road marking and panitng location and Built-up

Cl. 5.1.1 of IRC:SP:55 and as per IRC:67. Height and Clearnce of Signs
mounted on vertical post, design and size for various categories of
signs shall be as indicated in Table-5.1 to 5.11 of IRC:SP:55. For
placement of the signs appropriate to the specific zones, Typical
layout plans as furnished in Section-10 of the Code IRC:SP: 55 may
be followed.

SOR.
