Doctoral Committee have been incorporated in the synopsis.

3. CONTENTS OF SYNOPSIS

It is not possible to strictly specify a format for the PhD synopsis, however the following
guidelines may be followed in the preparation. It should be a detailed summary of the major
original contributions in the thesis to be submitted. It should give an outline of the thesis into
different chapters. The review of earlier work is to be minimized with just enough to
highlight the contributions in the research work to be reported in the thesis.

General formatting can be similar to that of the thesis ( see format for PhD thesis) except
that detailed list of abbreviations, figures, tables etc may not be essential . However figures
and equations are to numbered using running numbers. References can be numbered as 1, 2,

are cited in the synopsis, only need be given in the list of references. Bibliography is not
normally required in a synopsis for the sake of brevity. In any case, the synopsis should be
self contained to the extent possible even if efforts are made to make it brief.

name of the journal, volume number, issue number, particular pages (pp) and year of
