Maharishi Yoga® classes taught by Prudence Bruns will be held Wednesdays from 5:30pm -

(Students trained in transcendental meditation are welcome to stay for a group meditation after
class at 6:30.) This is a deep and revitalizing yoga for everyone.

Yoga Āsanas (postures) is to help create the state of Yoga, the state of totality. The ideal of

the physiology and its relationship with the mind in such a way that whatever the pose of the
body and whatever may be the mode of the mind, the relationship of the mind and body would
always be an ideal relationship of mind and body which will not allow the loss of that restful,
pleasantly settled state of Yoga. This means that the transcendent state gained during our TM

What is Maharishi Yoga? Yoga means unity. It refers to the union of individual awareness
with its fundamental nature, pure conscious- ness, the in nite source of all creativity and
intelligence. The state of Yoga is gained when the activity of the mind is completely settled,

the development of Yoga in all areas of life, from the outermost to the innermost.

level of the body, and Prāṇāyāma works from the level of breath. They are the ideal
preparation for the Transcendental Meditation practice. The synergy of these three practices
leads to clearer experiences of the state of Yoga. The practice of Maharishi Yoga Āsanas is
holistic, systematic, and natural—suitable for all age groups, and easy to learn and practice.

Kavanaugh Lawyers Up
Female lawyer Beth Wilkinson has been hired by Supreme
Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh to take on the
accusations about alleged sexual misconduct from 36 years
ago. Wikipedia has this to say about attorney Wilkinson:
Wilkinson is known for successfully arguing for the execution
of Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh. She has also
been a critic of unfair administration of the death penalty.
In April 2012 she was hired as outside counsel by the
Federal Trade Commission to lead an antitrust inquiry into
Google. The fact that she is a female will solve a few issues
as well, considering the circumstances.U.S. Supreme Court
nominee Brett Kavanaugh hired attorney Beth Wilkinson to
represent him in an upcoming hearing regarding allegations
of sexual assault ahead of nomination proceeding.
Kavanaugh hired award winning lawyer Wilkinson of
Wilkinson Walsh + Eskovitz to represent him according to
multiple sources, CNN reported Monday. Wilkinson
has been lead counsel in over 50 jury trials and litigated
scores of significant cases for the Army. She also played a
major role in prosecuting the Oklahoma City bombers.
She was named in 2015 as Litigator of the Year in addition
to winning a number of other awards.
News of Wilkinson’s hiring comes after allegations
that Kavanaugh tried to force himself on fellow high
schooler Christine Blasey Ford when they were both minors.
Ford now alleges that she “thought he might inadvertently
kill me,” according to The Washington Post. “He was trying
to attack me and remove my clothing.”
The allegations were first reported by The New Yorker Sept.
14. The woman’s name was reported on Sept. 16. Reports
also indicate that multiple media outlets possessed this
information as early as July, but did not release the
information until California Democratic Sen. Dianne
Feinstein sent a letter to the FBI.
Both Kavanaugh and the White House reject all allegations
of misconduct. “This is a completely false allegation. I have
never done anything like what the accuser describes—to her
or to anyone,” said Kavanaugh.
This never happened, I had no idea who was making this
accusation until she identified herself yesterday.”
Wilkinson did not reply to The Daily Caller News
Foundation’s request for comment in time for publication.

Healthmark Regional Medical Center in DeFuniak Springs has
received the highest possible rating from the Hospital Consumer
Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) for
inpatient care in 2017. This nationwide rating system was
developed by the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
Services (CMS).
The HCAHPS
survey is
administered to a
random sample of
adult patients with
different medical
conditions between
48 hours and six
weeks after
discharge.
Although, it was
created by CMS, the survey isn't restricted to Medicare/Medicaid
beneficiaries. The ratings cover multiple measures, including
nurse communication, doctor communication, responsiveness of
hospital staff, communication about medicines, discharge
information, care transition, cleanliness and quietness of the
hospital environment, and whether the patient would recommend
the hospital to others.
“We are very pleased to have achieved this high ranking,” said
Chief Operations Officer Gerald Beard, “because it illustrates the
level of care we provide to all our patients. This five-star ranking
is a testament to the dedication and professional excellence of our
physicians and personnel comprised of 16 departments in the
hospital. It is this team that provides the highest quality of patient
care to earn our hospital a five-star rating.”

Eglin Joint Base Command located
near Ft. Walton, Florida, is presently
the largest Military Complex in the
world and encompasses a large
contingent of Air Force units, Naval
Warfare units, and the 7th Army
Special Forces and 6th Army Rangers.
My home is exactly 5 miles outside
the main gate of Eglin AFB.
Most folks in the USA don't live in a
Military Town, with lots of guys in
uniform walking the streets and jets
overhead daily. They go on with their
lives unaware of what a Military Town
is all about. And that's OK… but I
want to share with you what it's like to
live in a Military Town.
We see guys in uniform all the time,
we have state of the art, high-
performance aircraft in the air nearby
all day long. We hear the SOUND OF
FREEDOM when an F-22 or F-35
streaks over the house… and we read
in the local paper, some times daily,
but at least weekly, of the loss of one
of our own in combat in the Middle
East.
Staff Sergeant Mark DeAlencar was
37 years old, had a family and was a
Green Beret with the 7th Army
Special Forces stationed here in the
Fort Walton area. He was killed on
April 8, 2018 , while fighting Islamic
State in eastern Afghanistan. In Jan. of
this year, he was deployed for the
second time to Afghanistan. He
promised his adopted daughter,
Octavia, that he would be home for
her High School Graduation. He didn't
make it. But she went to graduation
anyway. And in the audience were
eighty (80) US 7th Armed Special
Forces soldiers from her dad’s unit in
full Parade Dress Uniform.
Additionally, they brought THEIR
FAMILIES to be with them, as well.
And as Octavia ascended the steps to
the stage to receive her diploma
THEY ALL SILENTLY STOOD
UP. And when she was presented her
diploma they ALL CHEERED,
CLAPPED, WHISTLED… and YES,
CRIED. Everyone in attendance then
stood up and cried and cheered.
Octavia had graduated and yes she had
lost her dad… but she had 80 other
dads to stand there with her and take
his place. I just wanted to share this
moment with you… and remind you
that THIS IS WHAT IT'S LIKE TO
LIVE IN A MILITARY TOWN. This
is the real America we all love… and
I'm proud to be part of it.

1 in 3 High School E-Cig Users Vape Pot: Survey
E-cigarettes are fast becoming a clever way for American teens to use pot, with a new survey
showing that nearly a third of high school e-cig users have vaped marijuana.
The survey involved nearly 20,700 middle and high school students from both public and
private institutions. The goal was to gain fresh insight into vaping, which has been the most
popular means for smoking among American youth since 2014.
One of every 11 students overall said he or she had ever used marijuana in an e-cigarette.
"That equates to more than 2 million youth who have ever used cannabis in an e-cigarette,"
noted lead investigator Katrina Trivers. She is a lead epidemiologist in the office on smoking
and health with the U.S. National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health
Promotion at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Among those who said they
have ever used an e-cigarette at all, 1 in 3 high schoolers and 1 in 4 middle schoolers said they
had used pot by vaping it.
Trivers said the findings point to seemingly dramatic shifts underway in how and what teens
smoke. "Although we've seen considerable declines in the use of regular cigarettes among U.S.
youth over the past several decades, the tobacco product landscape is evolving, and the use of
other tobacco products has become increasingly popular," she said.
For example, Trivers noted that e-cigarette use shot up by 900 percent between 2011 and 2015
among American high schoolers, before declining somewhat in 2016 and holding steady in
2017. "This high rate of cannabis use in e-cigarettes is a public health concern, because any
form of tobacco product use is unsafe among youth, irrespective of whether it's smoked,
smokeless or electronic," she stressed.
On that front, Trivers pointed out that National Academies of Science has stated that pot use
among youth "can adversely affect learning and memory, and may impair later academic
achievement and education."
More broadly, she noted that the U.S. Surgeon General "has concluded that the aerosol emitted
from e-cigarettes is not harmless," based on its nicotine and chemical compound content.

The president tweeted: Two very popular Republican congressmen were
brought to a well-publicized charge just ahead of the midterms by the Jeff
Sessions Justice Department. Two easy wins now in doubt because there is
not enough time. Good job, Jeff.
The president is saying, play politics. Protect members of Congress even if
they have committed acts of corruption before the election.
PENCE: No, I don't think that's what the president was saying at all, Chris.
Look, the Department of Justice, as you know, has long-standing
guidelines through the success of the administration that says whenever
possible, the Justice Department should avoid taking actions that may
impact an election.
WALLACE: These are two people, one supposedly committing an insider
trading and the other one who was living high off campaign funds. Are
you saying that they should be protected because we are close to a mid-
terms?
PENCE: They are all very serious allegations and they ought to be
pursued, but I think the president was referring to the long-standing
tradition in the Justice Department to avoid unnecessarily impacting
election outcomes and perhaps preventing other men and women from
stepping forward and filling those slots in the future.

of this president, one of the reasons
why we've been so successful over

PENCE: I have every doubt that that happened. I really do.
And the president renegotiated the South Korean free trade
agreement in a way that put American jobs and American
workers first. But, look, I --
WALLACE: If I may just stay on this point for one minute
because Bob Woodward didn't just quote somebody. He has the
document here. This is the letter that he took off the president's
desk mark September 2017 in which the president if he had
signed it would have terminated the South Korean trade deal.
This isn't just talk. He's got the goods here.
PENCE: This is a president who puts people around the table,
around the resolute desk in the oval office that bring him all of
the options. They put on the table everything that he could be
doing. He invites a vigorous debate around the desk and then
he makes a decision. That's how it really does work.

Facts About The Great Depression That Aren’t As Dark
And Gloomy As You’re Expecting
The Great Depression doesn’t need too much of an introduction since we all learned about it extensively
during history class in high school. It was the longest and deepest economic depression of the 20th century,
and while it was worldwide, it started in the United States. Worldwide GDP fell 15% between 1929 and
1932. Just for the sake of comparison, during the 2008 crash, the worldwide GDP fell less than 1%. So it’s
safe to say it was horrible. Unlike most economic downturns, this one significantly affected the rich almost as
much as it affected the poor. Every level of society took a hard hit. But, in hindsight, many useful
developments and lessons occurred because of the Depression.
Al Capone, The Savior? In an attempt to gain public popularity, notorious gangster Al Capone opened up a
soup kitchen in Chicago. It was one of his sporadic tries to get the average citizen on his side, and while
many of them didn’t work, this one did.
For many Chicagoans, Capone’s soup kitchen provided the only meal they would have that day. It was a
place where the homeless and the poor could get free food and some rest from the daily struggle of living on
the streets.
The Robin Hood Of Chicago Capone made a fortune bootlegging alcohol during the prohibition and went
for the Robin Hood approach to public opinion. People who went to his soup kitchen would tell reporters that
he was doing more for the poor than the government ever did. His kitchen served breakfast, lunch, and dinner
with the most common food being a hearty beef stew. He even went as far as to offer some of the customers’
jobs at the establishment.
The Fantasy Of Buying A House It was 1934 when an unemployed Pennsylvanian, Charles B. Darrow, took
a game that he called MONOPOLY to executives at Parker Brothers. They promptly rejected it because they
said it had too many design flaws. Darrow decided that he’d produce it himself by hand-making versions and
hand-writing the directions for each. Demand started to outstrip his supply, so he got a manufacturer to keep
up. He ended up selling 500 hand-made sets of the game to a Philadelphia department store who sold out
very quickly. It would go on to eventually become the highest selling board game of all time.
The fashion industry had to change drastically because people had much less disposable income.

Some Iconic Structures Were Built While at its peak in 1933, the Depression saw unemployment hit 25%
for the nation. That’s almost one in every four people struggling to find work. President Roosevelt’s New
Deal set the groundwork to get people back to work, and one of the ways was to build infrastructure.
The Lincoln Tunnel that connects New Jersey and New York was built during the 30s, as was the Hoover
Dam. Works of wonder like the Golden Gate Bridge and the Empire State Building were created during the
Depression, all of which provided jobs to people who were unemployed.
The Unlikely Escape There was an unlikely hero for comic relief during The Great Depression. It came in
the form of cartoons which became very popular in the 1930s. One of those cartoons was the quirky Walt
Disney creation of the Three Little Pigs. There’s a song in the cartoon that became the unofficial anthem of
the Depression because of its likening to the dark days that many were experiencing. The song, “What Time
Is It Mr. Wolf” caught fire and played on all the major radio stations across the country. The cartoon, like the
song, was loved because it represented

Trump Imposes Tariffs on $200 Billion More of Chinese
Goods
The Trump administration will impose tariffs on $200 billion more in Chinese goods starting next
week, escalating a trade war between the world’s two biggest economies and potentially raising prices
on goods ranging from handbags to bicycle tires.
The tariffs will start at 10 percent, beginning Monday of next week, and then rise to 25% on Jan. 1st
President Donald Trump made the announcement Monday in a move that is sure to ratchet up hostilities
between Washington and Beijing. Trump has already imposed 25 percent tariffs on $50 billion in
Chinese goods. And China has retaliated in kind, hitting American soybeans, among other goods, in a
shot at the president’s supporters in the U.S. farm belt.
Beijing has warned that it would hit an additional $60 billion in American goods if Trump ordered more
tariffs. If China does retaliate, Trump threatened Monday to add a further $267 billion in Chinese
imports to the target list. That would raise the total to $517 billion — covering nearly everything China
sells the United States.
After a public comment period, the administration said Monday that it had withdrawn some items from
its preliminary list of $200 billion in Chinese imports to be taxed, including child-safety products like

things Americans buy at the mall or via Amazon. By expanding the list to $200 billion of Chinese
imports, Trump risks spreading the pain to ordinary households. The administration is targeting a
bewildering variety of products — from sockeye salmon to baseball gloves to bamboo mats — forcing
U.S. companies to scramble for suppliers outside China, absorb the import taxes or pass along the cost
to their customers. In a filing with the government, for instance, Giant Bicycles Inc. of Newbury Park,
California, noting that 94 percent of imported bicycles came from China last year, complained that
“there is no way our business can shift its supply chain to a new market” to avoid the tariffs and warned
“a tariff increase of this magnitude will inevitably be paid for by the American consumer.”
Trump campaigned for the presidency on a pledge to tax imports and rewrite or tear up trade
agreements that he said put U.S. companies and workers at a disadvantage. But many analysts say his
combative actions seem unlikely to succeed. “The president’s negotiating tactics do not work well with
China’s way of thinking,” said Sung Won Sohn, chief economist at SS Economics in Los Angeles.
Sohn said he thinks that China will retaliate against every U.S. tariff and that the back-and-forth
sparring will escalate until the U.S. is taxing all Chinese imports — $524 billion last year.
Still, he said, the U.S. economy appears strong enough to withstand the damage.
“In the short term, we will have higher prices and fewer jobs than we would have had otherwise,” Sohn
said. “Fortunately, the U.S. economy is humming, so we don’t have to worry as much about what this
will do to our economy.” Sohn said the Trump administration is pursuing a legitimate goal of getting
China to stop violating international trade rules but that it should have enlisted support from other
trading partners, such as the European Union, Canada and Mexico, and presented Beijing with a united
front.
On the contrary, Trump has picked fights with each of those trading partners — from imposing tariffs
on imported steel and aluminum to demanding that Mexico and China transform the North American
Free Trade Agreement into a deal more favorable to the United States.
Trump’s tariffs on China raise costs and create uncertainty for companies that have built supply chains
that span the Pacific Ocean. Some companies are looking to move out of China to dodge the tariffs, said
Ted Murphy, a partner at the Baker McKenzie law firm. Some will likely move to other low-cost
countries that aren’t in the line of fire. Some will bring operations to the United States — one of
Trump’s goals.
For years, multinational businesses “went where the labor was cheapest,” Murphy said. “Now the
calculus is more complicated.”
