Resumen
Abstract
The present investigation is of the applied type and corresponds to a non-experimental causal and transversal
correlational design, aims to determine the relationship between anxiety and maternal attitudes in mothers of
children with special needs in the area of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of the National Hospital Daniel
Alcides Carrión of the District of Callao. It was measured with the Zung Anxiety Self-Assessment Scale, adapted
by Astocondor (2001) and the Roth Maternal Attitude Scale, adapted by Arévalo (2005). The results reveal that
there is a significant relationship (p <0.05) between the anxiety scale with the four sub-scales of Maternal
Attitudes. Concluding that when interacting with their children, mothers acquire higher levels of anxiety, which
leads them to diminish their attitude of "Acceptance", tending to assume an attitude of "Overprotection" avoiding
excessively that their children are exposed to danger; with "Indulgence", evidencing difficulty in establishing
limits or an attitude of "rejection" tending to hostile feelings and behavior toward them.
Keywords: anxiety, maternal attitudes, special needs, scales.
