SMAKJ BANDAR Work Method Statements : Anti-Termite Treatment

KLUANG

OBJECTIVE

The best time to provide protection against termites is during the planning and construction phase of a
structure. The major objective of subterranean termite control is to establish a chemical barrier between the
soil, where termites live and the wood. A thorough pre-construction treatment is needed to protect the
structure from termites.

A) TWO (2) STAGES CHEMICAL SOIL TREATMENT

 25 ml of Imidacloprid to 10 liters of water (1: 400) of to be sprayed at the rate of 5 liters mixture
per square meter onto the soil. (Please refer to manufacturer’s recommendation and label
instruction).
 Treatment should only be carried out just before the concrete slab is laid. Steps should be taken to
protect the treated areas from rain and ultra-violet light.
 Should there be a delay in the laying of concrete slab after treatment, black plastic sheeting
materials may be used to cover the treated areas.
 All loose timber, wood shavings and other materials containing cellulose are removed from the
built-up area before treatment as these materials can hinder the effectiveness of this treatment.

i) Impregnation of Surfaces below the Slab Area

Impregnation of surfaces below ground beam, ground floor slabs and apron areas after the hardcore have
been laid out prior to the lean concrete.

ii) Impregnation to Sites and Surrounding Perimeter of Retaining and Basement Wall.

After stripping sides of formwork to basement wall, treatment to applied to the soil directly in contact to
the outer surface of the concrete wall after backfilling. The extent of the treatment shall be minimum of
500 mm from the edge of the wall. Treatment should be carried out at every 1.5 meter of backfilling right
up to the top of the basement wall (earth level)
