Human Rights

Human rights are very important for the society, they give dignity and freedom, and they
belong to each person from birth until death. Protection of human rights must be a
priority; there are many organizations in charge of this and conventions, also they are in
charge of give punishments. This essay is about human rights.

Human rights are the basic rights and freedoms that belong to every person in the
world, from birth until death. They apply regardless of where you are from, what you
believe or how you choose to live your life. They can never be taken away, although
they can sometimes be restricted; for example if a person breaks the law, or in the
interests of national security. Human Rights became a priority for the atrocities of the
Second World War (IIWW), so in 1945 the United Nations (UN) was founded and in
1948 it adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, This was the first attempt to
set out at a global level the fundamental rights and freedoms shared by all human
beings. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is an international document that
states the basic rights and freedoms all human beings are entitled to. It was adopted by
the United Nations General Assembly in Paris on 10 December 1948. The Universal
Declaration of Human Rights is the foundation for the modern human rights that are part
of UK law. This contemplates the main rights of the person, like the basic rights and
freedoms.

The protection of all the basic human rights have always been a priority, before the
foundation of the UN there were many conventions that helped in the protection of all
human rights. One of the most important is the Geneva Convention. Geneva
Convention or Geneva Conventions are the set of treaties that protect the International
Human Right. Also there are many International Organizations that protect human
rights; one of the most important organizations is the UN with its Office of the United
Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, it supervises that each country that
belongs to this organization respect the rights of all their citizens.

In spite of all these conventions and treaties, nowadays there were and there are many
violations of the human rights around the world. One of the worst examples of these
violations happened during the IIWW, it is called “The Holocaust”. These types of
violations are called “Crimes against humanity” because they are against the basic
rights of a being human, these crimes can be; murder, genocide, captivity,
extermination, torture. In order to avoid these crimes and to put a punishment to all the
persons that commit these crimes there are many mechanisms that are in charge to
exercise justice and to protect humanity of these crimes, like the “International Court of
Justice”, this belongs to the UN and it is the most important one, here in America other
organization is the Organization of American States (OAS) that is in the United States of
America.

In conclusion, Human rights are the basic rights and freedoms that belong to every
person in the world, from birth until death; human rights must be a priority for each
country in the world. One of the most important organizations that protect human rights
is the United Nations with its Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for
Human Rights. There were and there are many violations of human rights around the
world, the worst are called “crimes against humanity”, there are many organization and
mechanisms that supervises that these crimes do not happen. As a message, if you or
anybody sees that human rights are being violated, denounce it immediately to any
organization of human rights.
