Abstract
Utilizing solar energy in buildings and its presence in construction industry helps to reduce consumption
of conventional energy and to achieve low carbon economy. The past decade has shown a tendency
toward rapid development of clean energies globally, surely we shouldn’t be an exclusion. In this paper,
the policies, regulations and strategic plans related to solar energy in Iran’s construction industry are
gathered, analyzed and compared to China, India, and Germany as similar countries that had the same
path ahead of them with an aim to find barriers to wider usage of solar energy, As a result, the current
situation of the solar energy and the main impediments are found and discussed and some corrective
actions are proposed. Main research methodologies are archival research, interview and using experts'
knowledge, gathered data are then assessed as needed during research.
