What is mannerism firstly? A question to ponder about
When you look at a mannerist painting you would be confidently thinking it is the
work of the italian Renaissance you would be right, sort of, Mannerism is a period of
art that came out of the high Renaissance in italy and it is also known as the late
Renaissance period it lasted for 6o years from 1520 to 1580 , there are common figures
from religion and mythology rich colour and careful details but there is something
really interesting about these painting that many people overlook upon closer
inspection you realise that the figures are distorted e.g. long necks,distorted pose
,bright skin and lines are very exaggerated.
