CARPETA DEL 68 : Carpeta gráfica de homenaje al

movimiento estudiantil - popular de 1968 [13 prints,

36x50cm, cardboard slipcase]

A collection of thirteen prints which pays homage to Mexico’s student movements in the 1960s
as well as eminent Mexican graphic artists who used their craft to voice concerns of the
movement, published twenty years after the 1968 Tlatelolco Massacre which resulted in the
deaths of over 300 students and the arrests of over 1000 others. The prints also serve to further
the legacy of Taller de Gráfica Popular, an artists’ collective originally founded in the 1930s to
provide visibility to revolutionary social issues, as both the student movement and this body of
work include members of the collective in their ranks, notably Adolfo Mexiac, creator of the
widely circulated and polemic print “Libertad de Expresion”. Extremely rare, with no holdings on
World Cat’s database and a limited edition of 70 runs. There is minor damage to cardboard
slipcase, and minor damage to one print (photographed below). Otherwise, very good condition
for a rare item.
