3. TRAINING MANAGEMENT

3.1 Introduction

3.2 Narration of Experience

Agro-Forest Department
(June 20, 2018-July 2, 2018 & July 19, 2018-July 24, 2018)

In our first day of OJT, we went to the nursery before our call time because we

are so excited to have our first duty in Agro-Forest Department. At 7:30 our Adviser, Mr.

Mario Gacang, led us to the apat where we had our first discussion. First day was so

amazing because he gave us our pre test and we did not expect that our it is all about

cacao, from characteristics, varieties, down to the processing of tablea. After the pre-test,

we had a lecture on knapsack sprayer and we memorized all the parts of knapsack

sprayer. We also disassemble the parts of the knapsack and we had a good time for the

first activity. Also, that day Mr. Mario Gacang lectured us about the varieties of Cacao

and We had another activity in the afternoon, we sang the IPDM prayer composed by the

Cacao specialist of the VPO Mr. Mario Gacang. The 10 competency was also introduced

by Mr. Mario and it was also in the Pre-test. In our second day we only had mixing a

fertilizer and bagging some fertilizer for the new plant to grow. And the last day of our 1st

week we lectured about the propagator and the job of a propagator, we also had our

activity that day and May Anne Rabuya got wounded due to the activity we presented. In

our second week we had learn how to graft, and each of us would had 10 grafted plants

and after how many days he, Mr. Mario, will be back where we put our grafted plants and

check it if 70% of 50 plants was completely grow. We also had a lecture about varieties
of cacao and Mr. Mario let us lead to nursery and instructed us to arrange the cacao plants

according to the group labeled by first group is the 2 to 3 months old plants, second is the

maturing plants and the third is the regrafting plants. We would arrange the plants

because there is what we called dead plant and we will abandon it. We already know the

varieties of cacao but we also learned about the 3 classification of cacao. First is the what

they called crollo, second is the forastero and the last one is the trinitaryo. We also saw

some portable cacao opener which was amazing because it was so simple but needed by

human effort to open a cacao. We also apply a fertilizer around the panther 2 and we had

so much fun and the same time it was so tiring day for us. The scale of fertilizer each tree

is 1.75 kg but we did not had weighing scale so we already assume in putting fertilizer of

cacao tree. After organic fertilizer, we also apply synthetic fertilizer using knapsack

sprayer for me who grown in rural area I have so much fun because this is my first time

to use a knapsack sprayer. But suddenly there is something happened and even though we

could not meet for the last week and 3 days of this department Mr.Mario transferred us in

engineering department but the scenario there Mr. Mario did not expect that we will

having 15 days in that department so when we came back to him he compress and neglect

some lectures just to catch up all the important lesson of his field. Last week we had

pruning and tablea making and we went to kisom and taste all the products like chocolate

and everything. The last day we had our exam and at night we had our last bonding, we

went to the hot spring and we had so much fun with Mr. Mario Gacang.
Engineering Department
(July 3, 2018- July 18, 2018)

After Mr. Gacang had a sick he transferred us to the Engineering department. Our

first day of the Engineering department we went at the canteen because Engr. Jerry texted

us before that we would met at the canteen before 7 am because we would be riding a

parmol and went to our first destination. Engr. Jerry Palingcod our adviser in this

Department introduces his self to us at the waiting shed. Engr. Jerry Palingcod is a

Agriculural Engineer, he graduated at the MSU marawi and passed the licensure exam.

He also lectured us about the corn field and talk about the processing and the capacity of

the area. We also tried harvesting some corn at the field of a farmer. We are happy being

a farmer, this is my first time to harvest a corn and I am so tired but contented. So far this

department had giving us some snack every morning and afternoon so we have gained

more energy to accomplished my task
