ABOUT SARDAR PATEL COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING 
 
Bharatiya  Vidya  Bhavan's  Sardar  Patel  College  of  Engineering  (S.P.C.E.)  was 
established in 1962 as a Government Aided Engineering College. Over the last 35 
years  the  college  has  gained  an  excellent  reputation  in  the  field  of  Technical 
Education.  S.P.C.E.  is  one  of  the  five  colleges  (among  the  ones  affiliated  to 
Mumbai  University)  that  has  received  Grade  'A+'  rating  from  the  Govt.  of 
Maharashtra.  S.P.C.E.  has  maintained  a  proud  tradition  of  excellent  academic 
records  by  securing  high  ranks,  gold  medals  and  other  awards  in  the  University 
Exams.  Many  of  the  past  students  from  this  college  are  now  leaders  in  their 
professions  and  today,  S.P.C.E.  Alumni  can  be  found  in  all  public  and  private 
sector  organizations  operating  in  diverse  fields,  often  holding  senior  and  key 
positions in the organization.  
 
 ABOUT FSAE 
 
Formula  SAE  (Society  of  Automotive  Engineers)  is  an  Points Breakdown
international  competition  between  engineering  students 
involving the design, construction, and dynamic testing of  Static Events
an  open‐wheeled  racecar.  As  with  all  "formula"  racing,  Presentation  75
there  are  numerous  restrictions  on  the  design  of  the  Engineering  150 
Formula  SAE  vehicle  to  ensure  that  the  knowledge,  Analysis 
ingenuity,  and  imagination  of  competing  students  will  be  Cost Analysis  100
challenged.  Most  design  restrictions  are  aimed  at  driver  Dynamic Events
safety  and  team  parity,  the  former  being  of  paramount  Acceleration  75
importance.  To  this  end,  the  cars  must  meet  strict  front  Skid pad   50
impact  and  roll‐over  standards,  and  engine  intake  is  Autocross  150
limited by the use of an intake restrictor. First held over 25  Fuel Economy  50
years ago, the competition has grown to include 3 US and  Endurance  350
6  international  events  annually  in  Europe,  Asia,  South  Total  1000
America  and  Australia,  attracting  over  400  teams  from 
nearly 50  countries.  The car is built as a team effort over a period of one year. 
FORMULA  SAEINDIA  is  being  organized  for  the  first  time  in  India  at  the  Madras 
Motor Sport Club from 1st to 3rd of July, 2011. The completion is broken up into 
three static events and five dynamic events. 
 
                                                             
PROJECT BUDGET 
The cost in this project involves cost of fabrication of the car and the cost incurred 
during  competition.  These  figures  have  been  arrived  at  by  study  of  other  Indian 
team’s budgets and known prices of imported components.
