Abstract
An experimental investigation of vortex flow patterns over delta wings of varying sweep angles.
Woolen threads to be used for vortex flow visualization and pressure taps installation on wings
for pressure distribution detection. The low-speed aerodynamics of delta wings will be
implemented by wind tunnel testing of 30 m/s and 50 m/s.
The flow behavior over the upper surface of a delta wing is mainly governed by the leading edge
vortices. Angle of attack variation is applied to simulate the pitching motion of the delta wing.
The trend of pressure coefficient (Cp) against the span wise location is to be analyzed based on
four aspects, which are the variations of Reynolds Number, Chord wise location, Span wise
location and Angle of Attack. The results are expected to show that the pressure at the vicinity of
leading edge is much lower than the pressure plotted near to the wing center.
