I. JESUS PRAISED JOHN THE BAPTIST(1-19)

1. What did Jesus do after he finished instructing his twelve disciples (1)? Why?

2. Where was John the Baptist at the time (2)? What did John hear in prison (2)?
What doubt arose from his heart (3)? What do you think did he expect from
Christ?

3. What was Jesus’ answer (4,5)? How did he look at God’s on-going work
(Compare Isa 29:18; 35:5,6; 61:1 and see Dt 18:15) What was the characteristics
of the Messianic ministry? What did he teach to John (6)?

4. How much did people respect John (7-9)? How was John different from the
people of the generation? In what point did Jesus say that John the Baptist was
the greatest among those born of women (10,11a)?

5. How great are those who accept the gospel (11b)? What new era started from the
days of John (12-14)? What does ‘forcefully advance’ refer to?

6. To what did Jesus compare their indifference (15-17)? How did the people
criticize John and Jesus (18,19a)? How could their wisdom be proved right

10. Why are people weary and burdened? How does Jesus invite them? (28)? How
does he give rest?

11. What should we do in order to find rest (29)? What is a yoke? What does it mean
to take Jesus’ yoke? Why can we find rest when we take Jesus’ yoke (30)?
