Teaching approach: This lesson is based on Communicational approach.

In this lesson plan, students listening and speaking skills are integrated through the
teacher`s introduction to the topic and learners interaction with the teacher and among them.

Showing students a short video will give them the opportunity to be exposed to real Commented [A5]: It implies listening comprehension, too.
communication. Then, they will encounter tasks related to reading questions related to the

the topic, some pictures.

Seating arrangement: Students have to go to the computer room to show themwatch the
video. Learners will stay in that class, so as not to interrupt the course of itthe lesson. So,
learners will be seated sitting in pairs.

Cooperative work: Learners will use their previous knowledge and adding some of the
new one, so as learners would be able to communicate with the teacher or others.

Possible problems/difficulties and possible solutions:

Learners don´t like much to participate much, but as I have chosen a topic that it is part of
their daily life, I think this would motivate them to speak and interact.
If they do not understand a word, I will try to find synonyms if not gestures or pointing to a
picture if it is it necessary.
Giving them a positive feedback will encourage learners to participate. Paying special
attention to pronunciation, if they makde mistakes I will correct them later.
Assessment:
Obesrving, monitoring learners during the development of the class.

Routine: (5 min)

Hello students! How are you today?

Transition:

Well, I will like to ask you ….

Before watching the short video: (10 min)

Do you have a cell phone or a smart phone? The teacher will give them time to answer
and then she will go on with the next question …. Do you know the difference between
the two?
The teacher will again wait for answers and then she will check answers and add some new
words related to the topic as: device, pocket size, web browsing, touch screen.

A Smart phone is a personal computer with a mobile operating system. They are pocket
size as opposed to tablets wich are larger. ( The teacher will use mimic miming techniques
if it is necessary).
Cell phones has have a devise device (piece of hardware) that let you make a telephone call
or send messages.

Then, the teacher will ask them …Do you use all the devices that the smart phone offers?
Which ones do you use ?... Learners might mention; whattsapp, telephone, camera, video,
calculator, the GPS navigation, clock, video game…

Can you imagine a day with out it?

Possible anwers; yes, I can or no I can´t. The ones that say yes they will have to raise up
their hand and answer .. what are the things that you could do without your smart
phone? Teacher will write down on the board the answers given.

Without my smart phone

I could …..Talk more with my friends. I could play more with my dog/my child/friend.
I won´t feel disrrupted by the inssesant incessant sound of an incoming whatssapp message.

And what are the things that you could do? Commented [A7]: Wrong modal verb, in this case, as they
actually use their phones.

With the smart phone.

I can….talk with my virtual world but not with the real one.
I can spend the time taking selfies.
I could play games.

Transition: Ok, let´s watch a short video called (2.10) “ I forgot my phone”
https://youtu.be/OINa46HeWg8

While watching (15 min)

The teacher will tell students to pay attention to what the young woman is doing and her
reactions about it. Commented [A8]: Good. This would be the purpose for
watching the video for the first time.
They will watch it again but now I will pause and they will have to describe what they see.
