ZONE 1: CONTROL CORE POWER SUPPLIES

Procedure 2-1. EXPS Board

Step Completed

1. Record the specific faults as they appear on the keypad programmer of the bridge requiring
service.

2. Press <STOP> on the local keypad. A single fault (number from 600 to 604) appears on the active
master indicating that a follower was stopped.

3. Open blower switch BFSWx shown on sheet B, remove power supply/blower transformer fuses
BMTFUx shown on sheet A, and open dc circuit breaker DCBKRx, shown on sheet J.
4. If Master 1, Master 2, or Protection/Follower cores are being serviced, open applicable PT and CT
switches located in Case 18 and shown on sheet 0F.

5. Locate and check continuity in eight bypass fuses shown as MFUAC, FUACx, MFUDC, and
FUDCx on sheets A and B. Remove glastic rods from fuseholders and install fuses MFUAC and
MFUDC.

6. Remove glastic rods from fuseholders and install FUACx and FUDCx, shown on sheets A and B
of bridge requiring service.

7. Close ac switch MBKRAC located in the back of Case 2.

8. Open MBKRAC, remove MFUAC and FUACx, reconfirm fuse continuity check, and reinstall fuses.
Close MBKRAC.

9. Remove ac screw disconnects DISCx, shown on sheet A and lockout by following procedure on
disconnect nameplate.

10. Open ac switch MBKRAC.

11. Close dc switch MBKRDC located in the back of Case 2.

12. Open MBKRDC again, remove MFUDC and FUDCx, reconfirm fuse continuity check, and reinstall
fuses. Close MBKRDC.

13. Remove positive bus dc screw disconnect 1DISCx, shown on sheet B and lockout per procedure
on disconnect nameplate.

14. Open dc switch MBKRDC.

15. Disconnect and remove fuses MFUAC, MFUDC, FUACx, and FUDCx.

16. Remove negative bus dc screw disconnect 2DISCx, as shown on sheet B and lockout per
procedure on disconnect nameplate.

17. Install personnel safety ground leads on horizontal ac bus entering the core that was isolated.
This bus is physically located between the blowers and the core auxiliary cabinet. The other end
of the grounds should be connected to a suitable safety ground prior to connecting to the bus.

18. Always remember that the ac bus in the top of the core auxiliary cabinet and the dc bus in the top
rear of the core cabinet are still energized, as well as the line side if the 125 V dc feed to
DCBKRx, shown on sheet J.

19. Verify zero potential at all connections of the power supply assembly.

20. Unplug 1FTB, 1TB, 2TB, 3TB, 4TB, 5TB, 6TB, 7TB, 8TB, DCTB, VM2A, and VM2B connectors as
required.

21. Remove black and white wires in CPS PTB1 and PTB2 terminal board. Unplug ACPL.

22. Loosen the four assembly mounting screws and carefully lift the assembly out of the cabinet.
ACPL remains in the cabinet.

23. Take assembly to a workbench and remove four screws holding plastic protective cover.

24. Unplug DCPL, 3GDPL, and 4GDPL from EXPS board.

25. Remove EXPS board.

26. Replace EXPS board.

27. Reconnect connectors removed in step 24.

28. Reinstall plastic protective cover and screws.

29. Reinstall assembly in cabinet.

30. Reconnect connectors removed in step 20.

31. Remove safety ground installed in Step 17. Close dc circuit breaker DCBKRx and allow the power
supply and control electronics to perform self tests. If no faults appear at keypad programmer, open
DCBKRx, and proceed. If faults appear, refer to GEH-6121 for resolution.

32. Obtain fuses MFUAC, FUACx, MFUDC, and FUDCx and test each for continuity.

33. Remove the padlock on the negative bus screw disconnect 2DISCx and install the disconnect.

34. Install fuses MFUDC and FUDCx.

35. Close dc switch MBKRDC.

36. Open dc switch MBKRDC, remove fuses MFUDC and FUDCx, repeat fuse continuity check, and
reinstall fuses.

37. Close dc switch MBKRDC, again.

38. Remove the padlock on the positive bus dc screw disconnect 1DISCx and install disconnect.

39. Open dc switch MBKRDC and remove fuses MFUDC and FUDCx. Install glastic rods in place of
fuses in both fuse holders.

40. Install fuses MFUAC and FUACx.

41. Close ac switch MBKRAC.

42. Open ac switch MBKRAC, remove fuses MFUAC and FUACx, repeat fuse continuity check, and
reinstall fuses.

43. Close ac switch MBKRAC, again.

44. Remove the padlock on the ac screw disconnect and install the disconnects.

45. Open ac switch MBKRAC and remove fuses MFUAC and FUACx. Install glastic rods in place of
fuses in both fuse holders.

46. Install fuses BMTFUx shown on sheet A and close switch BFSWx, allowing the blowers to start.

47. Close dc circuit breaker DCBKRx shown on sheet J. After control initializes, verify that no faults
appear on the local keypad programmer.

48. If PT and CT switches were opened in step 4, close them now.

49. To put the core back on line, press <RUN> on the local keypad programmer. Verify that the
multibridge fault (in step 2) can be cleared by pressing <RESET> on the local keypad programmer
of the active master.

50. Reset alarms and bridge faults at the IOS.

Procedure 2-2. GDPA Board

Step Completed

1. Record the specific faults as they appear on the keypad programmer of the bridge requiring
service.

2. Press <STOP> on the local keypad. A single fault (number from 600 to 604) appears on the active

7. Close ac switch MBKRAC located in the back of Case 2.

8. Open MBKRAC, remove MFUAC and FUACx, reconfirm fuse continuity check, and reinstall fuses.
Close MBKRAC.

9. Remove ac screw disconnects DISCx, shown on sheet A and lockout by following procedure on
disconnect nameplate.

10. Open ac switch MBKRAC.

11. Close dc switch MBKRDC located in the back of Case 2.

12. Open MBKRDC again, remove MFUDC and FUDCx, reconfirm fuse continuity check, and reinstall
fuses. Close MBKRDC.

13. Remove positive bus dc screw disconnect 1DISCx, shown on sheet B and lockout per procedure
on disconnect nameplate.

14. Open dc switch MBKRDC.

15. Disconnect and remove fuses MFUAC, MFUDC, FUACx, and FUDCx.

16. Remove negative bus dc screw disconnect 2DISCx, as shown on sheet B and lockout per
procedure on disconnect nameplate.

17. Install personnel safety ground leads on horizontal ac bus entering the core that was isolated.
This bus is physically located between the blowers and the core auxiliary cabinet. The other end
of the grounds should be connected to a suitable safety ground prior to connecting to the bus.

18. Always remember that the ac bus in the top of the core auxiliary cabinet and the dc bus in the top
rear of the core cabinet are still energized, as well as the line side if the 125 V dc feed to
DCBKRx, shown on sheet J.

19. Verify zero potential at all connections of the power supply assembly.

20. Unplug 1FTB, 1TB, 2TB, 3TB, 4TB, 5TB, 6TB, 7TB, 8TB, DCTB, VM2A, and VM2B connectors as
required.

21. Remove black and white wires in CPS, PTB1, and PTB2 terminal board. Unplug ACPL.

22. Loosen the four assembly mounting screws and carefully lift the assembly out of the cabinet.
ACPL remains in the cabinet.

23. Take assembly to a workbench and remove four screws holding EXPS board bracket and remove
bracket.

24. Unplug CPTPL, ACPL, DCPL, 3GDPL and 4GDPL from GDPL board.

25. Remove GDPA board.

26. Replace GDPA board.

27. Reconnect connectors removed in step 24.

28. Reinstall EXPS bracket and screws.

29. Reinstall assembly in cabinet.

30. Reconnect connectors removed in step 20.

31. Remove safety ground installed in Step 17. Close dc circuit breaker DCBKRx and allow the power
supply and control electronics to perform self tests. If no faults appear at keypad programmer, open
DCBKRx and proceed. If faults appear, refer to GEH-6121 for resolution.

32. Obtain fuses MFUAC, FUACx, MFUDC, and FUDCx and test each for continuity.

33. Remove the padlock on the negative bus screw disconnect 2DISCx and install the disconnect.

34. Install fuses MFUDC and FUDCx.

35. Close dc switch MBKRDC.

36. Open dc switch MBKRDC, remove fuses MFUDC and FUDCx, repeat fuse continuity check, and
reinstall fuses.

37. Close dc switch MBKRDC, again.

38. Remove the padlock on the positive bus dc screw disconnect 1DISCx and install disconnect.

39. Open dc switch MBKRDC and remove fuses MFUDC and FUDCx. Install glastic rods in place of
fuses in both fuse holders.

40. Install fuses MFUAC and FUACx.

41. Close ac switch MBKRAC.

42. Open ac switch MBKRAC, remove fuses MFUAC and FUACx, repeat fuse continuity check, and
reinstall fuses.

43. Close ac switch MBKRAC, again.

44. Remove the padlock on the ac screw disconnect and install the disconnects.

45. Open ac switch MBKRAC and remove fuses MFUAC and FUACx. Install glastic rods in place of
fuses in both fuse holders.

46. Install fuses BMTFUx shown on sheet A and close switch BFSWx, allowing the blowers to start.

47. Close dc circuit breaker DCBKRx shown on sheet J. After control initializes, verify that no faults
appear on the local keypad programmer.

48. If PT and CT switches were opened in step 4, close them now.

49. To put the core back on line, press <RUN> on the local keypad programmer. Verify that the
multibridge fault (in step 2) can be cleared by pressing <RESET> on the local keypad programmer
of the active master.

50. Reset alarms and bridge faults at the IOS.

21. If transformer replacement is necessary, remove primary and secondary connections. Remove foot
mounting bolts and lift transformer to clear bolts, and remove.
22. Replace in reverse procedure in steps 21 through 20.

23. Remove safety ground installed in Step 17. Close dc circuit breaker DCBKRx and allow the power
supply and control electronics to perform selftests. If no faults appear at keypad programmer, open
DCBKRx and proceed. If faults appear, refer to GEH-6121 for resolution.
24. Obtain fuses MFUAC, FUACx, MFUDC, and FUDCx and test each for continuity.

25. Remove the padlock on the negative bus screw disconnect 2DISCx and install the disconnect.

26. Install fuses MFUDC and FUDCx.

27. Close dc switch MBKRDC.

28. Open MBKRDC, remove MFUDC and FUDCx, repeat fuse continuity check, and reinstall fuses.

20. Remove the fiber optic cables from SPCB.

21. Remove the programmer keypad by releasing captive clips.

22. Remove 10PL, 2PL, and ARCPL from SLCC.

23. Release locks for lower boards rack to swing down.

24. Remove 3PL from TCCB board.

25. Restore lower board rack to upright position.

26. Remove 8PL, 2PL, 11PL, 6PL, and 1PL from SDCC board.

27. Remove SDCC (along with SLCC and SPCB) by releasing captive clips holding SDCC.

28. On a static-free worktable, disconnect 7PL from SPCB board.

29. Remove screws holding SPCB and SLCC, and remove SPCB board.

30. Move SLCC board over and unplug 3PL from SLCC and SDCC boards.

31. On new SDCC, verify correct placement of hardware jumpers.

32. Remove EEPROM (U9) from old SDCC and install in replacement board.

33. Install new board using reverse procedure in steps 30 through 19.

34. Remove safety ground installed in Step 17. Close dc circuit breaker DCBKRx and allow the power

18. The ac bus in the top of the core auxiliary cabinet and the dc bus in the top rear of the core
cabinet are still energized, as well as the line side if the 125 V dc feed to DCBKRx, see sheet J.

21. If the right hand stack assembly is to be removed, follow procedure 5-4 to remove SHVI board.

22. Remove the six 1/4-20 kepnuts to remove the Lexan/ baffle located across the bottom of all three
stack assemblies.

23. Place the red glastic shelf (part no. 104X2301AB001) under the stack to be removed, with the
bottom center bus tab in the slot. Push it in all the way (staying above the metal air deflectors and
red glastic angle on the core back panel).

24. Remove the Lexan baffle on the bottom and face of the stack assembly.

25. At the top of the stack assembly, remove the four 1/2 in. kepnuts and carriage bolts on the bottom
of the SCR leg fuses. Also remove the four 1/2 in. kepnuts and carriage bolts on the top of the
fuses. Remove the four fuses. Mark them for replacement in the same position. NOTE: Fuses are
installed as pairs matched for resistance. Always replace as a matched pair.

26. Disconnect the SCR gate leads.

27. Disconnect the four brown control wires to the capacitors at the top of the stack assembly.

28. Disconnect the one black wire to the AC filter fuse using a 1/4 in. socket. Also, if removing the right
hand SCR stack, remove two brown wires from DC bus at rear of SCR stack using a 5/16" socket.

29. At the bottom of the stack assembly, remove the three 1/2 in. kepnuts and carriage bolts located on
the center bus.

28. Remove the four 3/8 in. bolts to the red barrels holding the stack assembly to the core back panel.
Then carefully slide the stack assembly out onto the glastic shelf.

29. Reach behind the stack, disconnect the temperature switch wires, and note the wire numbers.
NOTE: The stack assembly weighs approximately 125 lbs.

30. Replace stack assembly using reverse procedure 29 through 19. Wooden wedges may be required
to align holes for bolts removed in Step 28.

31. If right hand SCR stack was removed, reinstall SHVI board using reverse procedure 5-4 steps 22
through 19. Inspect for any hardware or tools left behind and secure core doors.

32. Remove safety ground found in Step 17. Close dc circuit breaker DCBKRx and allow the power
supply and control electronics to perform self tests. If no faults appear at keypad programmer, open
DCBKRx and proceed. If faults appear, refer to GEH-6121 for resolution.

33. Obtain fuses MFUAC, FUACx, MFUDC, and FUDCx and test each for continuity.

34. Remove the padlock on the negative bus screw disconnect 2DISCx and install the disconnect.

35. Install fuses MFUDC and FUDCx.

36. Close dc switch MBKRDC.

27. Open MBKRDC, remove MFUDC and FUDCx, repeat fuse continuity check, and reinstall fuses.

28. Close dc switch MBKRDC, again.

29. Remove the padlock on the positive bus dc screw disconnect 1DISCx and install disconnect.

30. Open dc switch MBKRDC and remove fuses MFUDC and FUDCx. Install glastic rods in place of fuses
in both fuse holders.

32. Close ac switch MBKRAC.

on the local keypad programmer.
39. If PT and CT switches were opened in step 4, close them now.

40. To put core back online, press <RUN> on local keypad programmer. Verify that the multibridge fault
(step 2) can be cleared by pressing <RESET> on local keypad programmer of active master.
41. Reset alarms and bridge faults at the IOS.

1. Record the specific faults as they appear on the keypad programmer of the bridge requiring
service.

2. Press <STOP> on the local keypad. A single fault (number from 600 to 604) appears on the active
master indicating that a follower was stopped.

3. Open blower switch BFSWx shown on sheet B, remove power supply/blower transformer fuses
BMTFUx shown on sheet A, and open dc circuit breaker DCBKRx shown on sheet J.

4. If Master 1, Master 2, or Protection/Follower cores are being serviced, open applicable PT and CT
switches located in Case 18 and shown on sheet 0F.

5. Locate and check continuity in eight bypass fuses shown as MFUAC, FUACx, MFUDC, and
FUDCx on sheets A and B. Remove glastic rods from fuseholders and install fuses MFUAC and
MFUDC.

6. Remove glastic rods from fuseholders and install FUACx and FUDCx, shown on sheets A and B
of bridge requiring service.

7. Close ac switch MBKRAC located in the back of Case 2.

8. Open MBKRAC, remove MFUAC and FUACx, reconfirm fuse continuity check, and reinstall fuses.
Close MBKRAC.

9. Remove ac screw disconnects DISCx, shown on sheet A and lockout by following procedure on
disconnect nameplate.

10. Open ac switch MBKRAC.

11. Close dc switch MBKRDC located in the back of Case 2.

12. Open MBKRDC again, remove MFUDC and FUDCx, reconfirm fuse continuity check, and reinstall
fuses. Close MBKRDC.

13. Remove positive bus dc screw disconnect 1DISCx, shown on sheet B and lockout per procedure
on disconnect nameplate.

14. Open dc switch MBKRDC.

15. Disconnect and remove fuses MFUAC, MFUDC, FUACx, and FUDCx.

25. Obtain fuses MFUAC, MFUACx, MFUDC, and FUDCx and test each for continuity.

Procedure 6-1. Bridge Isolation

Step Completed

1. Record the specific alarms displayed on the operator interface or ToolboxST application. Verify all
bridges are running and healthy except for the one to be powered down for service.

2. Be sure to apply appropriate safety procedures and PPE, per section1-5.

3. On the EDIS in the control cabinet, turn off 125 V dc control power to the EBRG of the core to be
serviced (JBG1 for Core 1, JBRG2 for Core 2, JBRG2 for Core 3, JBRG4 for Core 4, or JBRG5 for Core
5). Refer to elementary sheet 9A.

4. Verify a Bridge not heard alarm is being displayed for the core to be serviced.

5. Open blower switch BFSWx shown on sheet 3x (x is A—F corresponding to Core1-5) and remove
blower transformer fuses BMTFUx, also shown on sheet 3x.

6. Open ac circuit breaker MBKRAC in Case 2, shown on sheet 2A, and open dc circuit breaker MBKRDC
in Case 2, shown on sheet 3F.

7. Locate and check continuity of the eight bypass fuses (1500 V, 25 A) shown as MFUAC (sheet 2A),
MFUDC (sheet 3F), and FUACx and FUDCx of the core requiring service (sheet 3x).

8. Remove the eight glastic rods from the above fuseholders and install the eight bypass fuses.

9. Close MBKRAC momentarily, then reopen it. Remove six fuses MFUAC and FUACx, reconfirm fuse
continuity check, and reinstall fuses. Close MBKRAC.

10. Remove three ac screw disconnects DISCx (sheet 3x) and lockout by following the procedure on the
disconnect nameplate.

11. Open ac switch MBKRAC in Case 2 and close dc switch MBKRDC, also in Case 2.

12. Open MBKRDC again, remove two fuses MFUDC and FUDCx, reconfirm fuse continuity check, and
reinstall these fuses. Close MBKRDC.

13. Remove positive bus dc screw disconnect 1DISCx, shown on sheet 3x, and lockout per the procedure on
the disconnect template.

14. Open dc switch MBKRDC. Disconnect and remove eight fuses MFUAC, MFUDC, FUACx, and FUDCx.

15. Remove negative bus dc screw disconnect 2DISCx, shown on sheet 3x, and lockout per the procedure
on the disconnect template.

16. Always remember that the ac bus in the top of the core auxiliary cabinet and the dc bus in the top rear of
the core cabinet are still energized.

17. Verify zero potential of the ac and dc bus that was isolated, and of the 125 V dc control power input to
EBRG J8 (sheet 3x).
18. Install personnel safety ground leads on horizontal ac bus entering the core that was isolated. This bus
is physically located between the blowers and the core auxiliary cabinet. The other end of the grounds
should be connected to a suitable safety ground prior to connecting to the bus.

6.3.2 Bridge Re-energization Procedure

After completion of any bridge component servicing tasks


that were preceded by the isolation procedure in section
6.3.1, the following steps must be performed in the order
given to re-energize that bridge.

Procedure 6-2. Bridge Re-energization

Step Completed

1. Remove the safety grounds installed during the isolation procedure.

2. (Steps 2 and 3 verify operation of the EBRG prior to re-establishing bridge power). On the EDIS
board in the control cabinet, turn on 125 V dc control power to the EBRG of the core being serviced
(switch JBRG1 – 5, as appropriate). Verify the controllers M1 and M2 re-establish communication
with the EBRG after about a minute. The yellow LEDs for both channels on the HSLA daughter
board of the EBRG should be flashing rapidly, and the green M1OK and M2OK should flash slowly,
one at a 50% duty cycle and one at a 90% duty cycle.

3. Turn off 125 V dc control power to this EBRG board. Verify all LEDs on the EBRG board and its
HSLA daughter board are off.

4. Obtain the eight 1500 V, 25 A fuses MFUAC, MFUDC, FUACx, and FUDCx and test each for continuity.
Also obtain and check the three blower transformer fuses BMTFUx.

5. (Steps 5 – 7 verify operation of the blowers prior to re-establishing bridge power). Confirm ac
switch MBKRAC in Case 2 and blower switch BFSWx are open. Install nine fuses MFUAC,
FUACx, and BMTFUx. Remove the three fuses for the bridge ac line filter in this bridge cabinet.
6. Close ac switch MBKRAC, then blower switch BFSWx. Verify that all blowers start and turn in the
proper direction. Energize the EBRG again at EDIS switch JBRGn, and after initialization, verify the
yellow fan LED on EBRG is out. Blower and EBRG operation, and individual blower status indication,
may also be verified using the ToolboxST application screens.

7. Open switches JBRGn, MBKRAC and BFSWx. Remove six fuses MFUAC and FUACx. Check and
reinstall the three ac line filter fuses removed in step 5.

8. Remove the padlock on the negative bus screw disconnect 2DISCx and install the disconnect.

9. Verify MBKRDC is open, and install two fuses MFUDC and FUDCx.

10. Close dc switch MBKRDC for a few seconds.

11. Open dc switch MBKRDC, remove fuses MFUDC and FUDCx, repeat the fuse continuity check, and
reinstall these fuses.

12. Close dc switch MBKRDC again.

13. Remove the padlock on the positive bus dc screw disconnect 1DISCx and install the disconnect.

14. Open dc switch MBKRDC, and remove and check fuses MFUDC and FUDCx. Install glastic rods in
place of fuses in both fuse holders.

15. Check and install six fuses MFUAC and FUACx. Close ac switch MBKRAC.

16. Open ac switch MBKRAC, remove fuses MFUAC and FUACx, repeat the fuse continuity check, and
reinstall these fuses.

17. Close ac switch MBKRAC again.

18. Remove the padlock on the ac screw disconnect and install the disconnects.

21. To put the core back online, again turn on the JBRGn switch in the EDIS to apply control power to the
EBRG. After initialization, verify communication with the core is established using the ToolboxST
application screens, and that the fan feedbacks are working. Reset the initialization alarms and the
core should resume gating the SCRs. Verify conduction is sensed in of all the SCRs using the
ToolboxST application screens.

6.3.3. Blower Motor Transformer and BMT Fuses

This section contains the procedure for replacing the blower


motor transformer and/or its three fuses in a bridge auxiliary
cabinet.

Procedure 6-3. Blower Motor Transformer and BMT Fuses

Step Completed

1. For the core to be serviced, complete the isolation procedure provided in section 6-3.1. Always
remember that the ac and dc busses in the top of the bridge and auxiliary cabinets are still energized
throughout the following steps.

2. Verify zero potential at all connections of the transformer and fuses.

3. Remove and replace BMT fuses as necessary.

4. If transformer replacement is necessary, note all connections, and remove primary and secondary
connections. Remove foot mounting bolts and lift transformer to clear bolts, and remove.

5. Mount and connect the replacement transformer. Important: Verify the transformer has adequate
clearance from the door and its latching hardware.

6. When the service is completed, complete the re-energization procedure provided in section 6.3.2 to put
the core back online.

6.3.4. Blower Motor Fuses

This section contains the procedure for replacing the


three blower motor fuses on any of the three blower
assemblies in a bridge cabinet.

6.3.5. Blower Motors

This section contains the procedure for replacing a


blower motor assembly. There are three in each bridge
cabinet.

1. For the core to be serviced, complete the isolation procedure provided in section 6-3.1. Always
remember that the ac and dc busses in the top of the bridge and auxiliary cabinets are still
energized throughout the following steps.

2. Verify zero voltage on the busses, EBRG board, and blower fuses, and pull all fuses from
the 3-phase fuse block mounted on the motor base.
3. Remove wires to motor fuse block and unplug centrifugal switch wires. Pay attention to the
connections to ensure phase sequence will be maintained.

4. Loosen the four nuts securing the blower assembly to the core frame.

5. Support the assembly on blocks, and remove the two front nuts loosened in step 4.
Carefully slide the blower assembly toward front and remove from the cabinet.

6. Reverse the preceding three steps to install the new assembly, making sure the rubber seal is
visible around the perimeter of the core opening (viewing from above). This assures correct
alignment and seal position.

7. Verify correct reconnection of wiring, including phase sequence and centrifugal switch wiring.

8. When the service is completed, complete the re-energization procedure provided in section
6.3.2 to put the core back online.

6.3.6. EBRG Bridge Interface Board

the core back online.

6.3.7. SCR Stack

This section contains the procedure for replacing an SCR stack.


Each bridge contains three SCR stacks, each composed of two
SCRs and associated heatsinks.

Procedure 6-7. SCR Stack

Step Completed

1. For the core to be serviced, complete the isolation procedure provided in section 6-3.1. Always
remember that the ac and dc busses in the top of the bridge and auxiliary cabinets are still
energized throughout the following steps.

2. Open the door to the core bridge assembly. Verify the assembly is in an electrically safe state and
that the heatsink is sufficiently cool to handle.

3. Follow steps 22 through 30 of procedure 5-5 in chapter 5 to replace the SCR stack.

4. Inspect for any hardware or tools left behind, and secure the case doors.

5. When the service is completed, complete the re-energization procedure provided in section 6.3.2 to
put the core back online.

6.3.8. SCR Fuses

This section contains the procedure for replacing SCR


fuses. Each bridge contains twelve high-speed
semiconductor fuses installed as matched pairs for
resistance (to ensure balanced current sharing).

3. Check for open fuses and remove the bolts and other fastening hardware on the open fuses.

4. Install the replacement fuses using all hardware removed in the previous step and tightening to the
recommended torque.

5. Inspect for any hardware or tools left behind, and secure the case doors.

6. When the service is completed, complete the re-energization procedure given in section 6.3.2 to
put the core back online.

3. Verify the connections from the coils to the EBRG connectors J9, J10, and J11. The phase A coil should
connect to J9, phase B to J10, and phase C to J11.

4. Note the polarity of the coil mounting, including polarity masks, direction of the coil loop, and wire
colors.

5. Cut the ties mounting the coils around the bus, unplug the connections to the EBRG, and remove
the coils to be replaced.
6. Install the new coils, observing the polarity, mounting methods, and cable routing to the EBRG.
Connect to the proper plug on the EBRG.

7. When the service is completed, perform the re-energization procedure provided in section 6-3.2 to
put the core back online.

6.4. HVI MODULE AND OTHER COMPONENTS

Components in the HVI cabinet (Case 18H) or in other


cabinets not specifically listed in the previous sections
cannot be replaced online, including:

 EX2100e Auxiliary Interface (EAUX) board


 EX2100e Dc Fanned Feedback (EDFF) board
 Exciter Attenuation Module (EXAM)
 EX2100e Bridge Ac Feedback (EBAC) board
 De-excitation Control (EDEX) board and module
 Other auxiliary power components including flashing
and ac line filters

The exciter must be powered down and placed into an


electrically safe condition using local site LOTO
procedures. Refer to GEH-6785, EX2100e Thyristor
Control 100 mm Maintenance and Troubleshooting Guide
for de-energizing and replacement procedures for these
components.
