Research Title: The Correlation between Body Mass Index and Waist Circumference with Random Blood
Glucose Levels of Samarinda Tax Office's (KPP Pratama Samarinda) Employees (PNS)

Obesity is known as one of some factors that can raise the blood glucose levels. Indicators that can be
used to measure obesity are body mass index and waist circumference. Government's employees are
among the professions with obesity risk. This research was aimed to observe how body mass index and
waist circumference related with random blood glucose levels.

The research was an observational analytic research using cross sectional method. Respondents of this
research were Samarinda Tax Office's (KPP Pratama Samarinda) employees (PNS), which were sampled
with total sampling technique.

As a result of the research, 73 respondents met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Other results from
the research were the average body mass index was 23.95, waist circumference 83.38 cm, and random
blood glucose levels 101.53 mg/dl. The statistic test’s results showed that factors that correlated with
random blood glucose levels were waist circumference (p = 0.000) and age (p = 0.054). While factors that
did not correlate with random blood glucose levels were body mass index (p = 0.181) and gender (p =
0.506).
