HIV has become a major problem in the world of public health. The World
Health Organization (WHO) states that 1.2 million died, 36.9 million people lived
with this virus. In 2014 there were 2 million new people infected with this virus
(WHO, 2015). In the prevention of HIV / AIDS for the treatment of sufferers,
where almost all countries in the world experience the same problem, namely
about the adherence to taking medication for patients to take ARVs (WHO,
Progress report, 2016).
The purpose of this study was to find out how the attitude of medication
adherence in PLWHA in UPIPI Police Hospital Dr. Soetomo Hospital.
Research design is a type of qualitative descriptive research with a quantitative
approach. The population of this study were 1000 people with PLHIV in UPIPI
Hospital Dr. Soetomo Hospital. The sample in the study was taken by snow ball
sampling as many as 277 respondents. This research will be conducted at UPIPI
Polytechnic Dr.Soetomo Hospital Jln. Prof.Dr.Moestopo No.1-9 Surabaya.
The results of the study showed that obedience attitudes towards PLWHA
percentage of positive attitudes were 50.9% and negative attitudes were 49.1%
with a total number of respondents as many as 277 people. The majority of HIV
sufferers who seek treatment at UPIPI Police undergo regular treatment, but there
are still those who do not undergo treatment regularly. An ODHA must pay
attention, obey and undergo treatment well. So that the attitude of adherence must
be raised so that there is adherence in treatment at the UPIPI Police Hospital Dr.
Soetomo Hospital.
