The need for a change Wild Re-Creation™ & effective feeding
There is nothing more important to Arcadia Reptile than ensuring that captive animals live long, healthy, vibrant
and reproductive lives. It is true to say that ‘You are what you eat’. With exotic pets the processes of providing
correct nutrition are also tied up with effective hydration, heat and the correct provision of light including
Ultraviolet A and B.

Reptiles, Amphibians and Invertebrates,
as with all other species have changed
and adapted within the wild habitat over
millennia in order to obtain all that they
need from their own environments. This
is the driving force behind evolution by
natural selection. Subsequently, there
is everything ‘in’ and ‘around’ these
environments that these animals and
plants need to truly thrive. As example, if
a species has adapted to utilise a certain
level of heat and UVB to fully complete
its own biological processes, then it will
need to self-regulate under these same
parameters in a safe and measured way
also in captivity (the D3 cycle). The same
can be said for nutrition.
As enthusiasts we have had to use
supplements and supplemented feeds with
the aim to replace those missing or hard
to obtain essential dietary elements. For
many animals this has been a sometimes
lifesaving, but rather inaccurate process.
For Arcadia Reptile however, we see a
difference between an animal simply
‘surviving’ and truly ‘thriving’. Through good
science led research we aim to fix as many
of these historic inaccuracies as possible.
Many of the historic methods of
supplementation use an approximated
recipe of ingredients. In truth, many of
these compounds can become ineffective
if supplied even slightly out of balance
with the others. Indeed, some, including
the fat soluble vitamins (A, D and E) when
oversupplied can build up inside of the
body to potentially toxic levels, risking the
over provision of minerals which in turn
can lead to vital organ malfunction.
It would therefore seem that the historic
method of supplementation being un-dosed
and relying upon fat soluble vitamins and
synthetics rather than natural dietary
provision and the correct provision of
external energy, is not only inaccurate, but
could in turn cause issues with ongoing
biological function. There simply had to be
a better, safer and more accurate way.
These issues have worried and confused
us. In fact, it was within this frustration
that we decided to look again at safe and
effective all-encompassing nutrition. If
an animal obtains from its environment
everything that it needs to thrive, it would
seem only right to mimic this in a natural
way also in captivity. Indeed, as time
progressed and through long research we
were able to formulate a theory, a theory
of natural and effective supply that is
safe, potent and ethical. This theory is
called ‘Wild Re-Creation™’ and within its
parameters we believe are hidden all of the
secrets of fantastic animal care.
A REVOLUTION IN ACCURATE NUTRITIONAL SUPPLY
If there were as many limitations as we suspected within the
historic methods, we would have little choice other than to
re-invent supplementation and supplemented feeds as a whole.
We studied closely how wild animals feed and also the mineral
content of the environments in which they are found. This was
a pivotal moment and one that led to the realisation that it was
not just the ‘food’ items that supplied for an animal but also
that a quantity of minerals, vitamins and positive flora was
being supplied by the environment itself.
As example, wild water is laced with ‘full spectrum’ minerals.
It is within this phrase ‘full spectrum’ that we built upon our
theory. The mineral content of the earth should have every
element catered for in balance and therefore be active and
potent. This is ‘Full spectrum’. The ‘Earth’ in which the plant
foods grow and which surround the insects and animals that
are predated upon is therefore ‘full spectrum’ and must be
usable in some way by these wild animals.
The ‘Earth’ is largely balanced but not sterile. Usual feeding
ensures that particulates of earth are ingested in some way.
A tortoise does not choose those top most leaves, then wash
them, no, it tears up the plant and consumes it whole, roots
and all. When a reptile catches an insect or live animal it will
also be obtaining localised particulates from around and from
within the prey source. When an animal drinks, be that from
standing or flowing water including rain and mist it once again
ingests ‘full spectrum’ minerals. In fact, it could be said that
an animal is ingesting minerals with every breath. This is a
continuous process, as such it remains vital to continuous
provision.
If this is ‘wild supply’ then it should be Re-Created in captivity
alongside the required technology. As such and alongside our
theory of Wild Re-Creation™ we have formulated a range of
natural wholesome products that have been designed to be
used together as a programme in order to supply for our pets
safely and naturally. (see product packaging for a complete list

The Arcadia Reptile EarthPro range contains no synthetics. They
contain no manufactured dietary D3 nor pure vitamin A but
rather use a potent natural full spectrum carotenoid, allowing
the body to manufacture its own vitamin A. D3 should catered
for in a safe and measured way with wild like Arcadia Reptile
UVB systems and whole animal feeds where appropriate. As
such, ‘EarthPro’ is ‘non-toxic’. It can be used at every feed and
in doing so you will help to re-create these wild like feeding
processes.
Our ‘everyday use’ mineral and vitamin powder (EarthPro-A)
utilises the very best in scientific thought and ingredient
sourcing. Rather than using a lab based approximation of the
minerals that are found in the earth we use a naturally mined,
‘full spectrum’ mineral clay. To this we add high grade Calcium
balanced with essential Magnesium for optimum bone health
and Calcium function alongside many other natural ingredients
in order to help your pets thrive (See the EarthPro-A section).
Being clay based this powder also offers greater levels of
adhesion to both plants and insects, which ensures less
waste through better ingestion. We also add into many of our

The Arcadia Reptile ‘Deep Heat Projector’ uses cutting edge technology to produce the
most natural and effective wavelengths of Infra-Red being ‘Infra-Red-A’ and ‘Infra-Red-B’.
These wavelengths have been almost impossible to replicate in-balance within a small 400mm 29ºC
lamp up until now.
The heat from the sun contains IR-A and IR-B but without IR-C. It is IR-C that is produced
from non-light producing heat sources including ‘CHE’. IR-C is not effective for deep
tissue heating.
The Arcadia Reptile ‘Deep Heat Projector’ provides essential heat deep into the body in a
safe and natural way as a usable flood, thus maintaining a set thermogradient.

The Arcadia Reptile ‘Heat Lamp Safety Cage’ is an easy to use, stylish
product that fits simply over a lamp and lamp holder (Arcadia Reptile
Ceramic Lamp Holder Pro).
Helping to reduce the risk of burns, heat cages are an essential item
for all heating lamps when used inside of a vivarium.
The Cage has a sprung door on the bottom to allow and easy change
of lamp and has flat eyelets for fixing screws. The cage also has a
gateway for the power cable keeping everything neat and tidy.
Remember, always use a suitable Thermostatic control system with
heating system and a cage to protect both animal and keeper.
