I. THE PLURAL OF NOUNS (El plural de los nombres)

A. Repeat these examples after your teacher.

B. Los nombres que terminan en s en el singular forman el plural cuando se le añade es; los que
terminan en ce, se o ge forman el plural cuando se le añade s. En ambos casos, la es final se

B. Las Expresiones there is (there’s) y there are indican existencia lo mismo que la palabra
hay en español. No indican lugar.
1. There no significa nada en estas expresiones. Es una palabra introductiva en la posición del sujeto,
en preguntas como en respuestas. El verdadero sujeto es el nombre que sigue.

2. Se usa is there o there is (there’s) delante del nombre singular.


Se usa are there o there are delante del nombre plural.

B. El verbo be es singular. Be es la forma sencilla del verbo, la forma básica que aparece en

personas como a cosas.

D. En la conversación, generalmente se usan las contracciones del verbo con los pronombres
sujetos.
