Overall aim and context of the lesson

Let the students know that there are same things and different things around them.

Select (S):

In today’s lesson of math, I taught the students new thing which was “Same & Different” and I start the
lesson with singing the 7 days of the week song and asking them about today’s name which is Monday and
related to their letter of the week “M” for Monday. Then, I showed them a video about “same and
different” and explain the topic for them with using different colors of circles, I explained the activities for
them in the circle time then they start doing the activities.

Describe (D):

This lesson was for kindergarten 1 students, the lesson was in their classroom I used the circle time and
the activities areas with them. In this lesson, I was trying to achieve a goal which is identify the “different
and the same” for the students and let them know what they are and let them learn new vocabularies. I
think I achieve the goal, I make a checklist for them and this let me know more that they understand. The
students were engaged with the video I put it for the introduction, the video show them the different and
same between the monsters and it was like a cartoon so they like it.

Analyze (A):

The students like the activities and they were engaged at the circle time, I put a video for the introduction
the video show the students the same and different between the cookie monsters and it was like a cartoon
so they like it. One of the activities was to color the different shape and the students like to color so they
engaged, other activity was putting the cards in a balls basket and they find the same card and match it
together.
KG 1 students was having a knowledge about the topic because they already take the lesson on Sunday
with their main teacher, so when I taught them it was for letting them remember the lesson and the
vocabularies. To engage the students in the introduction and the closing I let them do an activity on the
white board and I let them do another activity which finding 2 same things in the classroom and this is
kinesthetic and physical activity.

Appraise (A):

The students were engaged with the activities, specifically matching cards activity, I think because it have
a pictures of things they already know and it related to their letter of the week “M”. They love the video
that I played it in the circle time.
My lesson meet my teaching goals, because I used the checklist and it helps me to see that they understand
the lesson and what I explained for them. Almost all of them were recognizing which color was different
which colors are the same.

Transform (T):

I might enhance student’s learning of this lesson in the future by adding more activities, and play a song
for the cleanup so they understand that the activities time finishes, also provide a samples for each
activity.
Next time I should make the introduction taller, and raising my voice while teaching the students. I could
use a strategy like “5, 4, 3, 2, 1” with them to be quit and listen to me. I will make more sample for the
activities and explaining the activities correctly so they understand well the thing they should do it.
