Objectives
 To understand classification of signals: analog and digital, periodic and aperiodic, …etc.
 To understand and calculate energy and power of a signal and understand correlation and
orthogonal signals.
 To understand exponential Fourier series.
 To understand Fourier transform of signals and its properties.
 To understand energy and power spectral densities.
 To understand baseband versus carrier communications.
 To understand Amplitude modulations (AM) and demodulations.
 To understand SSB and DSB amplitude modulations.
 Understand phase modulation (PM) and frequency modulation (FM).
 Study superheterodyne analog AM/FM receivers.
 To understand sampling and analog to digital conversion.
 Study principles of digital communication systems.

 Homework and quizzes 20%
 Mid-term exam 30%
 Final Exam 50%

Homework and Quizzes: Homework will be assigned by Teaching Assistant on a regular


basis, and quizzes will be given by both the teaching assistant and the instructor.
