Friday 23rd The new building is being designed to be as ecologically sensitive and sustainable
as possible. Pray that we too would be guided in our individual daily lives to protect God’s
creation in whatever ways we can.
Saturday 24th Pray for all in residential care in Peebles, as well as for those caring for them.
Ask God to influence those in caring roles to have the right attitude and focus to provide the
best support possible for those in their care. Pray for more opportunities for Christians to be
involved in this ministry through work or volunteering.
Sunday 25th St Andrew’s Baptist Church are on the search for a new pastor. Pray for this
process to go well and for the remaining ministry team to know a united purpose as they lead
the church. Student and family outreach feature as part of the church’s regular activities. St
Mary’s Community Church in Dundee, though small in number, is active in relationship
building in the community, asking for prayer that these relationships will lead people to Jesus.
They also ask for prayer to know the way ahead for the church. Stenhouse Baptist church are
loving getting to know their community better as more people from the church move into the
area. They ask for prayer to be good neighbours as Jesus calls us to be. Pray too for their
ministry with ex-offenders and in the Saughton prison.
Monday 26th Pray for Christians working in various roles at Peebles High School, that they
would have many opportunities to pray for and with the students, as well as with each
other. Pray for those students who already have a Christian faith, for their protection,
growing love of Jesus and sense of His love for them, and for courage to stand up for their
faith amongst their peer group.
Tuesday 27th Pray for Barbara and the work of Vision Ministries. Barbara is in the UK at the
moment, visiting supporting churches to feedback about the ongoing work in Kibera. Pray for
her as she travels around, and that those working on the ground in Kibera would stay healthy
and protected.
Wednesday 28th Tonight is our members’ meeting. Pray for the finalising of the agenda and
for a good attendance. Ask God to bless us with a rich time of fellowship as the various items
are discussed and prayed over.
Thursday 29th The BMS Prayer Guide focuses on Albania this week. Pray that the Albanian
Church would be a beacon for Albanians to develop a greater dependence on God. Pray also
for the work of BMS with the Roma community through a local organisation called Tek Ura,
meaning “At the Bridge”. Annie (physiotherapist), Dan, Mat (teacher), Ina (local social worker)
and Rexhina (local physio assistant) are all involved in the work of Tek Ura.
Friday 30th Today is St Andrew’s Day, the annual commemoration of Scotland’s patron saint.
We don’t know much about his life beyond the references in the Gospels, however, it is
known that after Jesus’ resurrection he spent the rest of his life travelling and preaching as
far from home as what is now the Ukraine. He was executed in southern Greece at the age
of 65 yrs. Think about this incredible and profound change from Galilean fisherman to
travelling preacher to martyr for his faith in Jesus. Pray that our love and obedience to Jesus
and His call on our lives would result in acts of bravery too.

Pray every day for our church, for God to bless, minister to and through the:
1. Leadership – pray for Ian and Lindsey and the Deacons: Linda, John, Bill and Lyn
2. Family – pray using the address list as a guide to cover everyone during the
month
3. Worship – pray for those involved in the music ministry
4. Witness – of individuals living and working in this community; as a body
representing Jesus; of our mission partners in Guinea and Kenya
5. Growth – pray:
- for the children in the church family and those who teach them in JAM
- for the Building Project: the practicalities of fund-raising and building, the
activities and outreach now and the opportunities to come in the King’s
Meadow building
Thursday 1st The building committee meet tonight and there will be plenty to discuss! Pray
for those discussions to be Holy Spirit directed so that wise and effective decisions are made.
Pray that the planning process with the council would reach a favourable conclusion shortly
so that the next stage can begin.
Friday 2nd Ian’s Mum, Ingrid, suffered a severe stroke last week. She was due to move in to
live with Ian and Lindsey in their new home this week. Pray for her and for all the Gray family
as they adjust to difficult circumstances.
Saturday 3rd With 1 Corinthians 14:26 in mind, pray for those preparing the different
components of tomorrow’s service that through their contributions under God’s guidance the
church, as individuals and a body, will be built up in faith knowledge and practice. Remember
in prayer, too, those from the congregation that are not able to join in at present because of
ill health. Pray that they may know so tangibly the comforting and healing presence of Jesus.
Sunday 4th The Baptist World Alliance was formed in 1905 as a “forum of collaboration” for
all the churches and unions participating in it – a total of 210 entities from over 100 countries.
Pray for God’s guidance and receptive hearts, minds and wills for those who oversee its
activities in mission, evangelism, justice and aid work. Closer to home, we are asked to pray
for Renfrew, Rosyth, Rutherglen and Saltcoats Baptist Churches this week. Saltcoats (South
Beach) Baptist Church has a new youth pastor, Douglas Crabb. Pray for blessing and growth
for the leadership and congregations of these churches.
Monday 5th It’s Bonfire Night tonight; when Guy Fawkes’ attempt to blow up the Houses of
Parliament is commemorated! There are different fireworks going on in the UK parliament at
the moment… for most of us we have never encountered such a politically unstable time in
our lives. Pray for all at the top level of politics in Scotland and the UK, for the good of the
nation to be their priority rather than advancing personal careers or party prominence. Pray
for Christians working in the political arena to be bold in speaking out for God’s purposes.

Tuesday 6 Caroline & Victor, working in Guinea with BMS (see: www.bmsworldmission.org/
wp-content/uploads/2018/08/1807-Caroline-and-Victor.pdf), ask for prayer for the students
attending their English classes that they will see a difference in the way they are taught and,
as a result, ask questions of their teachers. Guineans have a life expectancy of 50 years, with
1 in 100 babies dying before they reach their first baby. Pray for growth of the small church
in this country.
Wednesday 7th Pray for the diaconate meeting this morning at 10am, and for all involved in
Singing Together at Dovecot Court this afternoon; very different gatherings but both of vital
importance in Kingdom life!
Thursday 8th Tunisia is the focus for prayer in the BMS prayer guide this week. Ask God to
protect and bless the 1,600 or so national believers as well as all involved in working to build
the Church there. BMS workers in Tunisia are involved in church leadership, educational and
medical work.

Friday 9 On Sunday, the worship will be led by Lyn and the music group. Pray for all as they
prepare, not just in musical practise but also in having hearts and minds ready for this
ministry.
Saturday 10th Tomorrow, Vicky’s Tearoom is happening at St Andrews Leckie Church Hall at
3pm. Remember in prayer all involved in this regular event, through service or attendance,
that conversation would be enriching, and relationships blessed.
Sunday 11th It is exactly 100 years since the armistice was signed to end the First World War.
Many, many people will be involved in commemorational events that will remember the
tremendous loss of life in that war and the many that have occurred since then. Peace and
reconciliation will feature strongly so let us also focus on the same as we pray for both in our
own lives and relationships as well as in the wider world, praying that, more than anything,
men and women will be reconciled to God.
Monday 12th Pray for Lunch ’n’ Chat taking place at the Leckie Memorial Church Hall at 12pm,
and for a blessing for those people from our congregation who are providing and serving the
soup and rolls.
Tuesday 13th Let’s pray for Peebles today, in particular for the south side of the town where
our church life and ministry will be focused before long. Ask God to be preparing hearts and
minds to respond positively when the new church building is open to all kinds of Kingdom
activities. Pray that we are ready to build relationships and be open to reaching out to our
new neighbours when the time comes.
Wednesday 14th Churches listed for prayer this week are Sheddocksley, Selkirk, Sanquhar
and Shettleston Baptist Churches. Sheddocksley Baptist Church in Aberdeen offers a Parish
Nursing service, part of Parish Nursing Ministries UK, with two workers reaching out to the
community to provide help and advice on all aspects of health. Selkirk Baptist Church ask for
prayer for God-honouring resolutions to some internal distractions.
Thursday 15th “Aim at heaven and you will get earth thrown in. Aim at earth and you will get
neither” CS Lewis (author of the Narnia books). Today is World Philosophy Day! Let’s pray that
our personal philosophy is very much aimed Heavenward, and that we can have more courage
to share that “philosophy” with others.
Friday 16th Today we are asked to pray for the BMS Short-term Personnel Team, that God
would give them wisdom as they lead the Action Team, Insight Team and volunteer
programmes. Action Teams is gap year programme for 17-23 year olds who spend 6 months
somewhere in the world sharing their Christian faith in practical ways, then another 2 months
on a UK Mission Tour. Insight Teams offer the opportunity for a personal discipleship and
learning experience in a different culture.
Saturday 17th Pray for all involved in JAM, both leaders and children. Ask God to bless each
child who attends, that as they learn about Him during childhood their faith would be strongly
rooted, and they would always be open to God’s love and direction through their lives.
Sunday 18th South Leith Baptist Church has seen changes at a pastoral level recently, and also
significant growth in attendance. This has made it possible to expand outreach activities,
including working with those with addiction issues. Pray for these activities and those involved
in implementing them. Southside Christian Fellowship is in Ayr. Once a month from October
until December they have a prophetic outreach and prayer space in Ayr town centre, which they
ask prayer for. Prayer is also requested for their “Give a Day” Christmas ministry that seeks to
serve and bless the community. Pray too for the church fellowship of Springburn Baptist Church.
Monday 19th Pray for the corporate church life in Peebles, the other congregations, their
ministers and ministries. Pray for strengthening of relationships and outreach through
Peebles Churches Together and other opportunities for collaboration.
Tuesday 20th Pray for on-going effective dissemination of the video about the King’s Meadow
Building Project, that this would be fruitful in terms of prayer support, as well as more funding
opportunities being realised. Continue to pray that all the obstacles to starting the building
work will soon be overcome.
Wednesday 21st What is on the news today? Ask God how to pray for those situations being
reported on, then allow the Holy Spirit to prompt you throughout the day and beyond to keep
those issues in your prayers.
Thursday 22nd Paul wrote: “It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ
was not known” (Romans 15:20). The BMS Prayer Guide, this week, features the least
evangelised parts of the world, mentioning that BMS is committed to investing at least on
half of its resources in the third of the world that is least evangelised. Prayer is asked for
wisdom in realising this.
