ATO Map Option

ATO Create

Description—ATO, Automatic Tissue Optimization, optimizes

the image based upon a specified Region Of Interest (ROI) or
anatomy within the display. ATO gray scale map is available
only in B-Mode.

Benefits—Improves productivity and patient throughput with

one touch image optimization. Improves the contrast of the
display image data.

Accessing/Changing—To create an ATO gray scale map:

1. Press the ATO Create Sub-Menu up/down arrow key

on B-Mode Sub-Menu page 1. The ROI box cursor is
displayed on the image.

THI (Tissue Harmonic Imaging) Option

Description—Tissue Harmonic Imaging utilizes the natural
harmonic characteristics inherent in non-linear sound
propagation properties in the human body. This function does
not permit the use of any contrast agent. Currently, it is only
available on the S222, S317 and C358 probes.

S222 and S317 probes

CL

Benefits—Harmonic imaging diminishes low frequency high

amplitude noise and often improves imaging technically difficult
patients. Tissue Harmonic Imaging is beneficial to contrast
resolution and cystic clearing. Harmonic 1 is a higher harmonic
frequency, whereas Harmonic 2 is lower.

Accessing/Changing—To activate Tissue Harmonic Imaging:

1. Connect the S222, S317 or C358 probe.

2. Press the Imaging Freq Sub-Menu up/down arrow key
on B-Mode Sub-Menu page 2.

CFM/PDI Map Transparency

The CFM Map Transparency and PDI Map Transparency
B/W presets, found on Set Up/Custom Display page 7, allow for the
Option default maps to be set. The higher the number, the higher the
transparency level.

Spatial Filter Setting

The Spatial Filter has the six settings (Off, 1 to 5). These filters
B/W allow for a smoother color flow image. This selection is
Option available in CFM Mode Sub-Menu page 3.

The CFM/PDI Spatial Filter preset is found on Set/Up Custom

Display page 6.

Higher Frame Rate

Frame rates have been increased by the implementation of the
B/W very-small packet size. This selection is available in the CFM
Option Mode Sub-Menu page 3.

The presets for CFM Packet Size and PDI Packet Size are
found on Custom Display pages 6 and 8, respectively.

EFW Using User Programmable Table Measurements

If it is desired to use User Programmable Table measurements
in the calculation and reporting of EFW, perform the following
steps:

System Setup

1. Create the desired User Programmable Tables as

described on 14–75 of the Basic User Manual.
2. Assign the User Table measurement to the proper
Measurement Mode Menu as described on 14–84 of
the Basic User Manual.
3. Assign the User Programmable Table measurement to
the desired Report Page as described on 14–72 of the
Basic User Manual.

Calculating EFW

4. Perform the measurements used in the calculation of

EFW.
For example, if Tokyo method is selected in the OB
Report Format, found in System Parameters page 2,
EFW is calculated by measuring BPD, FL, APTDxTTD.
If user programmable tables are used in the
measurement of BPD, FL and/or APTDxTTD, these
measurements should be performed first prior to the
factory default measurements [i.e. FL (user1), BPD, FL,
APTDxTTD].

After all measurements have been completed, EFW is not

displayed in the measurements results area, but is displayed on
the Report Page.

If it is desired to use User Programmable Table measurements

Hints in the calculation of EFW, it would be helpful to program a User
Measurement Sequence as described on 14–79 of the Basic
User Manual.

If measurement averaging is active, EFW will be calculated

from the average of similar factory default and user
programmable table measurements.
