There are many version updates to ARCGIS 10.2 but most changes will only affect advanced
users.
There is one change in particular which will affect everyday users of ArcGIS 10.2 - it is now
possible to RENAME AN ATTRIBUTE FIELD in a feature class of a geodatabase. See
tutorial below on how to rename an attribute field name in a feature class.
Advanced users of ArcGIS should read the attached ESRI document WHAT’S NEW IN
ARCGIS 10.2X.pdf for the full list of all changes in ArcGIS 10.2X
ArcGIS 10.2.2 is predominately a quality improvement release. For a list of issues that are

All users of DRNGarmin or DNRGPS software used to download GPS files should update
their software to DNRGPS for 10.2.
Field Names can only be changed using the Alter Field tool from ArcToolbox.
To find this tool use the Search tool. Enter “Alter Field” in the Search window and

You will note the field with the new name appears at the end of the table. This is only
temporary. Remove the data from the table of contents and then add it again. The
field name will now appear in the correct place in the table.
