Material required:
Positive Qualities - cut into chits (ensure that the number of words matches the number of Ss) A-4 size sheets (1 each) A-4 size sheets
cut in quarters (1 quarter piece per student) and pencils for all participants, a bowl, French beans/stones - there should be one for every
participant, white board markers in red, blue, green and black
1. Ss may lack vocabulary to express themselves - Pre-teaching vocabulary exercise provided. T should help if required
2. Students may not understand the task - T must have sample of drawing. T can help by asking leading questions
3. T should make sure that no one is being negative or insulting - T should warn that if anyone uses negative words, he/she shall be
taken to the principal and action will be taken against him/her.

5 Play a song and encourage Ss to sing and dance along
Warm-up

Hold up a bean and ask the class to describe it as it appears to them visually.
As they respond, write the words they use to describe it on the board.
Next, pass the bowl around and tell Ss to pick up one bean each from the bowl.
Tell them to look at it very closely. Give them 2 minutes to examine it individually.
Next, form groups of about 10 to 12 and have them put their beans together and mix

Now tell Ss to identify their bean. (They will be able to do it very easily)
Ask a few Ss how they could identify ‘their’ bean - they will each point out a unique
feature about ‘their’ bean/stone
Conclude by saying that even a simple thing like a bean/stone has a few unique features,
doesn’t it?
So do you think you also have unique features and qualities?
Ss realize that even a bean with so little complexity is so obviously unique. It is only

discover its hidden traits.

Title: I am Unique - Others are Unique
Objective: To help Ss recognize the uniqueness of self and to develop a positive self-image
Give each student a paper.
Tell them that they have to place their palms down on the paper with the fingers spread
out and draw the outline of both their palms side by side.
Hold up an A-4 size sheet with an outline of your hands and qualities written on each
finger.
Next, tell Ss to write down their name in the palm area and a unique aspect of A-4 size sheets of paper

themselves on each finger. Give them 10 minutes to do this exercise. and pencils - 1 set per
1 minutes
Walk around and if Ss are stuck, you could prompt them by asking a few leading student
questions or suggest words that describe the student - all 10 fingers must be filled.
The instructor can help by stating that the unique aspects can be physical attributes like
sex/gender (i.e. boy/girl) or nature like talkative/quiet or their talent. Ask them not to be
shy, modest or humble.
Tell Ss to fold this and keep it aside
Ss realize that they do have positive qualities and they begin to feel good about
