Tanah Abang New Policy

The governor of Jakarta Capital Special Region, Anies Baswedan announced

about the concept of area arrangement. Short term arrrangement plan has been started
on December 22nd, 2017 until March 2018.

Anies said that by this program all parties that had bussiness in Tanah Abang
could be organized.

The form of arrangement that would be implemented in Tanah Abang there was
the implementation of one way system in one side of Jati Baru Raya Street, at the
entrace of Tanah Abang station. Laterly the other side of Jati Baru Raya street would
be used for street vendor’s tents.

Anies said that 100 percent of side walk could be used for pedestrians.

In the other side the directorate of traffic of Polda Metro Jaya that represented by
Kombes Halim Pagarra said that his disagreements with the policy to closed one side
of Jati Baru Raya street, Tanah Abang. This was because the emergenced of traffic
problems, one of them was traffic jump caused by public transport. The police would
be discused with the goverment of Jakarta Capital Special Region about the regulation
and both of them would delivered their evaluation result.

Previously, vice governor of Jakarta Capital Special Region, Sandiaga Uno

mentioned that arragement of Tanah Abang area consisted of 3 phases, there were
Short term, middle term, and long term.
 The design of short term was redirected of traffic flow and public transport route
along Jati Baru Raya Street that closed for street vendor.

For the middle term, Sandi said that new building costruction in Block G and Sky
Bridge construction between Blok G and Block F at Tanah Abang.

And for the long term, The goverment of Jakarta Capital Special Region planned
to builded an area for unified public transport terminal or transit oriented
development.
