1 VAS 5054A installation and commissioning

The descriptions in this chapter only apply for commissioning of diagnosis

interface VAS 5054A on workshop tester VAS 5052A from basic CD
Note version 16 and diagnosis laptop VAS 6150 from basic CD version 15.

The installation is carried out in the following order:

1. Install VAS software

2. Connect VAS 5054A to vehicle
3. Adapt Bluetooth security settings
4. Connect and install VAS 5054A via USB
5. Change Bluetooth PIN for VAS 5054A
6. Setup connection to VAS 5054A
7. Install VAS 5054A for use with Bluetooth
8. Check settings in EDIC Software Configuration
9. Optional: Change workshop tester or diagnosis laptop from VAS 5055 to VAS 5054A
operation

1.1 Installation of VAS PC software

Do not connect your VAS 5054A via USB yet. First install the VAS-PC software.

1.2 Connecting VAS 5054A to vehicle

Connecting to the diagnosis socket of the vehicle results in VAS 5054A being supplied with
voltage, thereby making it ready for operation. The blue status display on the front of the remote
head flashes at a rate of one second.

Connection of VAS 5054A to the diagnosis unit can be carried out wirelessly via Bluetooth or
using a USB cable. Once communication to the diagnosis unit has been setup, the status
display lights up permanently. When data is being sent via Bluetooth or USB, the status display
flashes according to the volume of data.

Connection via USB is only meant for special situations, such as for
configuration of the remote head. The USB cable connection is not
suitable for general use in the workshop area during normal vehicle
Note diagnosis.
