Intended audience o This journal is used by high school science teachers, it provides ideas for teacher to implement within the classrooms and provides science literacy for students. Several of the articles in the journal are science focused and then the journal provides activities that can go along with the journal for students to do. Publishing o Published monthly starting in August which lines up with the beginning of a school year o Currently running its 86-volume issue 3, this October Main Topics o The journal is published every month with a different theme and the articles discuss either using the topic in the classroom or using the theme within the article. Editor o The editor of The Science Teacher is Stephen Metz o Every journal, the editor writes an article discussing the topic of the issue, that is feature at the beginning of the magazine. Regular contributors o A section that focuses on physics that is written by Paul G. Hewitt. o A section that focuses on a career for each journal written by Luba Vangelova. o The other articles are written by different contributors. Regular Features o Each journal also has a section providing NTSA News allowing teacher to stay up eaderto date with what is happening with NSTA. o One beneficial things about this journal is that many of the articles have worksheets or extra components that you can receive through the magazine and NSTA. Access to the Journal o To be able to receive this journal you need to be a member of NSTA but once you are a member you can receive it in the mail or can access through an app. Journey to the Journal o I came upon this journal through using the National Science Teacher Association as a SPA, and there is also an NSTA chapter at JMU. o I think it is important that I familiarized myself with the material that is offered by an organization that will play a large part in my future.
