A. General Information
In celebrating the 70 Years Charter Anniversary of Calbayog City in partnership with DepEd
Calbayog City Division, the LGU-CACO has launched the FOLKDANCES Competition 2018
aimed at efficiently and effectively promote the educators’ engagement, awareness and
appreciation to Calbayog and Philippine Folkdances recently being challenged from
vanishing by the dominant power of pop and foreign dance influences.

The program aims to stress the importance of the competition as it raises the artists’
consciousness on the value of artistic excellence. It provides opportunities for artists to
exploit and maximize their true potential. It also hopes to develop emotional fitness
through teamwork as the group experience will bring about dependability, responsibility,
commitment, sportsmanship, discipline, creativity and awareness of the value of the art
of dance, consequently, acquiring the value of working together as a team towards
common goals which will extend to daily undertakings beyond the competition.
