Assignment Brief:
1. Work out a cost plan for him based on the information provided (30 marks)
You are to show your breakdown of the cost appraisal and justify your assumptions
when asked during the Q & A.
2. Presentations shall be in power point format (between 10-15 slides) and the soft copy
shall be emailed to ShirleyAiLing.Chin@taylor.edu.my by 12.00noon, 19th November
2018.
4. You shall show your benchmark projects (if any) to justify the cost of the building.
Marks will be awarded for good rationale and sound basis for the benchmarking.
(10 marks)
5. You shall print your detailed cost appraisal, showing quantity and rates and print them
in A3 size sheet (10 marks)
6. You shall provide an A3 size sheet (1 sheet only) with pictures/sketches and/or write-
ups on any construction technology, methodology and technique, including but not
limiting to materials used with the unit cost. (10 marks)
7. You are to prepare minutes of meeting (in a format of your choice) to record what
transpired during your group discussion, attendees of the meeting, action to be taken
by respective individuals, progress of individual members & group as a whole and
deadlines set to achieve tasks in order to meet the assignment submission deadline.
The minutes of meetings are to be submitted as part of the assignment. ( 5 marks)
Please note that at the end of the assignment, a copy of peer evaluation form will be given
to all for valuation of their team members’ contribution and effort in the project. In order
to also assess your individual efforts, you shall write your name on the section/s of work
that was/were prepared by you.
Hardcopy Submission
You will need to submit a hard copy report comprising the followings:-
Part 1: Introduction
Introduction to proposed site. You will need to highlight all the key features of the
proposed site and its surroundings with appropriate sketches and plan. A list of client’s
and project requirements will need to be attached in the report.
Produce a cost plan for the proposed project on an A3 size paper indicating all necessary
cost as per template. You will need to submit the basis of your assumptions and the
source of your cost data. You will need to provide a summary of each major section (eg.
preliminary, structures, architecture, M & E, contingencies) in this part.
Part 3: Conclusion
You are also required to submit all necessary peer evaluations together with this report.
