Maintenance
General maintenance instructions
The basic requirement for a safe operation of the machine/system is its regular
maintenance. The work set out in the inspection lists must be carried out and the
indicated maintenance intervals must be kept. Maintenance also includes a
regular cleaning according to the operating conditions.

Maintenance work must be carried out by skilled personnel only.

How to maintain motors

Motors have to be maintained according to the manufacturer's instructions. The
documents are included in the annex to these operating instructions.

How to maintain gear units

Gear units have to be maintained according to the manufacturer's instructions.
The documents are included in the annex to these operating instructions.

How to order spare parts

The spare parts list and spare parts drawings are included in a separate chapter
at the end of the operating instructions. The spare parts list includes the data of
the order so as to ensure a correct attribution of the spare parts.
In case of inquiries or orders, please send a copy of the spare parts list including
information on the spare parts required to our spare parts department. You will
find the address in the introduction at the beginning of the operating instructions.

Check of tightening torque

Check of bucket mounting
The mounting angles are pushed onto the outer link plates. The buckets are
bolted to the mounting angles. The connection between the buckets and the
mounting angles secures at the same time the outer link plates of the central
chain. The screw and belt connections have to be checked at regular intervals to
ensure that the outer link plates do not come off the bolts. The bolts have to be
tightened with the tightening torque indicated for this thread size. The following
control intervals are to be kept:
• after 3 days
• then every 6 months

Control of wear and tear

Central chain
The wear and tear of the chain is to be checked and documented at regular in-
tervals. Carry out the measurements on three chain links following each other.
The measuring points must be marked durably. The control intervals depend on
the particular operating conditions. The approximate time for replacing the chain
can be predetermined by these controls.

The nominal dimensions indicate the dimensions of the central chain when it is
new. The limits are the maximum permissible dimensions of the central chain
with which an operation of the bucket elevator is still permitted. Once the limits
are exceeded, the complete central chain must be replaced.

to be entered in the table.

Drive sprocket
The wear and tear of the drive sprocket segments is to be checked and docu-
mented at regular intervals. The control intervals depend on the particular oper-
ating conditions. The approximate time for replacing the segments can be prede-
termined by these controls.

The drive sprocket and the tensioning roller sprocket have to be aligned
so as to be parallel, horizontal and perpendicular to one another. The
roller link plates of the chain must not touch only one side of the chain
sprockets.

The hardened surfaces of the segments have a minimum hardness depth of 3

mm. The maximum wear and tear may accordingly amount to 3 mm. Contact
BEUMER, if the limiting values indicated in the table have been reached.

Tensioning roller sprocket

The wear and tear of the segments of the tensioning roller sprocket is to be
checked and documented at regular intervals. The control intervals depend on
the particular operating conditions. The approximate time for replacing the seg-
ments can be predetermined by these controls.

The drive sprocket and the tensioning roller sprocket have to be aligned
so as to be parallel, horizontal and perpendicular to one another. The
roller link plates of the chain must not touch only one side of the chain
sprockets.

The hardened surfaces of the segments have a minimum hardness depth of 3

mm. The maximum wear and tear may accordingly amount to 3 mm. The wear
and tear on the toothed flanks can be determined with an appropriate template.
Contact BEUMER if the wear and tear has reached the limit of 3 mm.

The results of the measurement with operating hours and name of inspector are
to be entered in the table.
