1.)Concepts that we can relate with Tony’s case are:

a.)Nursing requires a specific educational base

Our knowledge about each of our patient’s case must be based on actual facts with medical basis
and our intervention must follow the nursing process. Relaying proper information is a vital part
in promoting the correct health teaching to our patient and their significant other/relatives.
Health teaching promotes understanding and allows proper cooperation between the nurse and
his/her patient.

b.)Nursing is distinct and separate from medicine

Nursing (though part of the health care team) focuses mainly on patient care. We primarily
provide first hand care and assistance while following the nursing process. Nursing is patient
centered with a goal of providing care to restore health while medicine is mostly focused on
diagnosis and prescription.

2.)Florence Nightingale believes that each case is unique to each patient and the intervention must be
based on their specific needs. Providing the best possible care while treating the condition will always be
the main priority of every intervention. Since the physician and the nurse have different opinion about
the intervention, settling the issue must be the first action. The nurse can further explain to the physician
her opinion and make Tony understand why such intervention is better for his condition. Proper health
teaching results to cooperation which further leads to proper alteration of the environment in order to
improve condition and allow healing to occur.
