Chapter 3

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter of the proposal specifies the methods and

procedures employed by the researchers in collecting the

data needed for the study.

Research Design

The descriptive design will be used in this study in

order to compare and correlate all variables included in

accordance to the needs of the study.

This method will involve the collection of data in

order to answer the questions regarding the implementation

of local ordinance and special laws of the twenty-seven

(27) barangays in Sto. Tomas Isabela. The technique will be

used under descriptive method is the purposive survey

approach and evaluation. Questionnaire survey will be

employed to gather data in this study.

Descriptive-comparative will be used to determine the

significant difference between the implementation of local

ordinance and special laws of the twenty-seven (27)

barangays in Sto. Tomas Isabela.

Descriptive-correlational, on the other hand, will be

used to determine the significant relationship between the

respondents’ profile variables and the level of

implementation of local ordinance of the twenty-seven (27)

barangays in Sto. Tomas Isabela.

Respondents of the Study

The barangay captains and residents of Sto. Tomas

Isabela will be the respondents of this study.

Data Gathering Tool

A checklist will be used as the data gathering tool

for this study in order to guide the respondents in

describing the level of implementation of local ordinance

and special laws of the different barangays in Sto Tomas

Isabela. The ordinances are provided in the checklist while

the role of the respondents is to put a check mark on the

corresponding level of implementation of local ordinance of

the different barangays in Sto Tomas Isabela.

The research tool to be used in the study will be a

survey questionnaire which was patterned on the study of

Ramos et. al. (2013) and was revised to suit the present

study. The questionnaire consists of the following parts:

Part 1 of the questionnaire will be the profile of the

barangay captains respondents;

Part 2 of the questionnaire determines the level of

implementation local ordinance and special laws of the

twenty-seven (27) barangays in Sto Tomas Isabela as

assessed by the two groups of respondents.

Data Gathering Procedure

The researchers will send a letter request to be

addressed to the Barangay Captains of each barangay

requesting permission to conduct the study.

Respondents will be given ample time to respond to the

questions to avoid errors and inaccuracies in their answers

during the actual survey. The researchers will also explain

the letter of intent to the respondents and promise to take

confidentiality of their identity and the information that

they wish to disclose.

After retrieval of the questionnaires, the responses

will be objectively tallied, computed, analyzed, and

recorded.

Simple frequency and percentage count will be used to

evaluate the profile of the respondents while mean analysis

will be used to evaluate the level of implementation of

local ordinance of the different barangays in Sto. Tomas

Isabela.

Pearson-r or correlation will be applied to determine

the relationship between the profile of the respondents and

the level of implementation of local ordinances and special

laws of the twenty- seven (27) barangays in Sto. Tomas

Isabela.

An independent t-test will be used to test the

difference between the level of implementation of different

local ordinances of the respondents by age bracket and as a

whole.

Three-point scale will be used to rate the level of

implementation of local ordinance of the twenty-seven (27)

barangays in Sto. Tomas Isabela.
