-----1:48 a.m. --a security camera n a neighbor' house captures SW being
dropped off by friend, Nickol, at her Frederick home following business trip in AZ

-----4 to 5 a.m.-- CW told police this is when he awoke and he and his wife had
an "emotional discussion regarding his desire to separate. he tells police the
after leaving their bedroom, he returns to observe, via a baby monitor in the girls'
room SW attacking their daughters, He tells police that he strangled his wife to
death in a fit of rage.
-----5:27a.m.--the neighbor' surveillance camera captures CW backing his truck
up to his garage. He initially tells police that he load up tools and left for work
while his wife and children were still sleeping. Two days later, he admits to
loading their bodies into the truck and later dumping them in an oilfield northwest
of Hudson.
-----1:40p.m. Frederick police officers are called to the Watts' home to check on
SW after the friend, Nickol, Who dropped her off said she didn't answer phone
calls or text messages and missed a 10a.m. doctor appointment. Officers call
CW to the home and gain access with his consent Police question CW after
finding SWs' personal belongings at the house, but no signs of foul play.
Tuesday August 14
----- 7a.m. ---A Frederick police detective upon learning that neither SW nor girls
had returned home, requests that a press release about their status as missing
be sent out and seeks assistance from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and
ultimately the FBI
Tuesday afternoon---CW speaks with the Coloradoan partner 9News, saying that
not having his family at home is "earth-shattering"
Wednesday Aug 16
-----4:15 p.m. — Prior to Christopher Watts' confession, police investigators start a drone
search of the oil and gas site where they believed the bodies of Shanann, Bella and Celeste
Watts to be located. They spot a bed sheet matching the pattern of several pillow cases and
a top sheet recovered from a kitchen trash can in the Watts' home earlier that day. Police
also spot "fresh movement of dirt consistent with a clandestine grave near the oil tanks."
-----Wednesday evening — After two days of investigating, police discover that Christopher
Watts was engaged in an affair with a co-worker, according to arrest documents. In an
interview with police, Christopher Watts "said he would tell the truth after speaking with his
dad," arrest documents say.

-----11:30 p.m. — Christopher Watts is arrested on suspicion of three first-degree murder


charges and three charges of tampering with a deceased human body.

Thursday Aug 16
-----2:30 p.m. — Christopher Watts appears in Weld County court, where 19th Judicial
District Judge Marcelo Kopcow denies him bond. Kopcow says bond will be reconsidered
after Christopher Watts is formally charged.

-----Thursday afternoon — Shanann Watts' body is found in a "shallow grave," according to


court documents obtained by 9News and shared with the Coloradoan. The two children are
found "inside oil tanks located near the grave of their mother" later that evening. Court
documents also suggest Bella and Celeste were strangled and had "been in an oil well filled
with crude oil" for four days.

Friday August 17

-----Friday — Autopsies are conducted for all three victims, but the results of those autopsies
are not yet released by the Weld County Coroner's Office.

-----8:30 p.m. — Hundreds of people come to the Watts' home in Frederick to pay tribute to
Shanann Watts and her daughters during a candlelight vigil. Community members bring
flowers, stuffed animals, crosses and other things to place at the front of their home.

Monday August 20

-----4 p.m. — The Weld County District Attorney's Office announces nine official charges
against Christopher Watts: three counts of first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree
murder for causing the death of a person under the age of 12 while being in a position of
trust, one count of unlawful termination of a pregnancy and three counts of tampering with a
deceased body.

-----4:30 p.m. — The arrest affidavit for Christopher Watts is released by the court.

Tuesday August 21

-----10 a.m. — Christopher Watts appears in court for the second time to be formally advised
on the charges filed against him. He is being held in Weld County jail without bond.

Christopher Watts' next scheduled court appearance is set for Nov. 19.
