Exclusive breastfeeding is breastfeeding only to infants from birth to 6 months of age, with
no additional fluids and other food supplements. Benefits of breast milk can reduce the risk of
infants suffering from various diseases. In RS Islam Assyifa in 2017 it is known that exclusive
breastfeeding coverage is around 80.4%. The aim of this research is to analyze the influence of
characteristic (age, parity, education, hospital environment, source of information), knowledge and
attitude of breastfeeding mother to exclusive breastfeeding in Assyifa Islamic Hospital.

The type of research used is explanatory survey, with design cross sectional. The
population is all breastfeeding mothers with an older baby 0-6 months in the Installation of
Inpatient Assyifa Islamic Hospital. Sample amounted to 60 people with total sampling technique.
Data analysis with Chi Square and Multiple Logistic Regression.

The results showed that the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in Assyifa Islamic
Hospital was 80.4%. Knowledge (p = 0.025) and Hospital Environment (p = 0.043), it had an
effect on exclusive breastfeeding. Percentage Correct values show the hospital environment and
knowledge variables, could explain the effect on exclusive breast feeding of 95.7%, while the rest
of 4.3% is influenced by other factors such as family support, and paramedic.

It is suggested to paramedic in Medical Service of RS Islam Assyifa to improve the health


education program for the breastfeeding mothers and imrove the hospital environment to be more
comfortable for nursing mothers such as using nursing cover for optimal exculsive breastfeeding
during hospital stay towards shariah hospital.
