The article about the significance of soils and science towards realization of the
United Nations Sustainable Development Goals focuses on how modern soil science
can effectively affect connected social issues such as food security, water scarcity,
climate change, biodiversity loss and health threats. Several national action plans
are already made before, but the degradation of soil continue to increase; then,
the majority of the root crops and plants can't be planted to the soil. According to

2. We can say that the article is related to the hypothetico - deductivism method of
science since the study suggests different observations yet not proven regarding
scientific studies on the effect of soil to food, water, climate, biodiversity and
health. The article even recommended other people and researchers to show the
specific value of modern soil science to food security, water scarcity, climate
change, biodiversity loss, and health threats in their own studies.
3. The article describes modern soil science as an important element for achieving
the UN SDGs in ways including food, health, water, climate, and land
management. In the Philippines, it is evident through observation that we are a bit
lagging behind in technological development but it is also known that the
Philippines is an agricultural country. Soil sciences would definitely be relevant to
the Philippines because of its background as an agricultural rich country and it
would definitely be beneficial for the Philippines to focus on technological
advancements regarding agriculture.
