Vetting and Police Background Checks
Current legislation stipulates that it is a criminal offence on the island of Ireland
for a person acting on behalf of the Gaelic Games Associations to commence
working with children and vulnerable persons, without that person first
obtaining a vetting disclosure from the National Vetting Bureau or a criminal
record check from AccessNI, in respect of the role for which they have applied
The joint Code of Behaviour (Underage) also stipulates that any person working
with children or vulnerable adults must be vetted
The Club Children’s Officer must establish who, due to their roles, is required to
be vetted and should do so on an annual basis

Applicant Completes the GAA Evetting ID Form & Provides proof Garda Vetting process
of Identity to Club Children’s Officer is completed
Step 3
The NVB will issue the NVB Vetting Application form to the
applicant. This will be issued to the email address the applicant
provides.
Step 4
Following process of application the GAA will inform the
applicant and the club secretary via email if the vetting
application has been accepted and issue an acceptance letter 12
