*This canon is NOT one of the original 14 canons. *Dieser Kanon gehört NICHT zu den ursprünglichen 14
It struck me as strange that Canons 3 and 4 are Kanons. Kanons
essentially the same, yet the inversion and eigentlich gleich sind, aber dass der Krebs-Kanon und
retrograde-inversion were not included as their Krebs-Umkehrung-Kanon nie zusammen vorkamen.

The best solution I have found for the 12th canon (for one performer) is to make *One can end either here, on the 3rd beat,
frequent use of manual crossing (two manuals directly above/below each other). or on the 1st beat of the following measure.
Unsure how best to represent this, the hands are split onto three staves: *Man kann entweder hier, auf den Drei
the upper stave is for the upper manual oder im folgenden Takt auf Eins enden.
the lower of the three for the lower manual
the middle stave for the cantus firmus (which must be shared between the two manuals).
Beginning at the second system: notes with stems facing upward should be played with the RH; similarly any stems facing
downward with the LH. Ideally an assistant should perform the C.F. on a separate manual with 8' + 16' registration.

*One can end either here, on the 3rd beat,
In this solution, most of the commentary from page 6 remains the same. The or on the 1st beat of the following measure.
difference here is that the cantus firmus remains completely in the left hand *Man kann entweder hier, auf den Drei
(upper manual). This prevents slightly fewer crossings of the hands, but I do oder im folgenden Takt auf der Eins.
not like this solution due to the voice unisons / voice crossings in the first
and second measures of the repeat (F# and E in the c.f.).
Beginning in the third measure after the repeat, the same fingering rules from p. 6 apply (unless noted: upward stems = RH,
downward stems = LH). Due to the changed layout (hand usage instead of voice reading per staff), fingerings which require
a manual cross are notated in parentheses: 1 (3) = thumb with a manaul cross of the 3rd finger.
dritten Fingers.
