Universal Design for Learning (UDL): I would address UDL by having students connect with me or other
teachers using my Kahoot I created. This is very helpful and a great review for students.

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
I decided to use the Kahoot as a pre-assessment to see what students already know about the topic, Parts of
a Plant. To introduce parts of a plant I would make our own plants and I would have the children label the
parts that they know. We could go over it as a class and students will watch a short video on parts of a plant.
As a post-assessment I would have the students use my Kahoot that I made to reinforce the material.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☒ Assess prior knowledge ☒ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☒ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☒ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☐ Test preparation
☒ Survey/Poll ☒ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Student Response and Assessment Tools
Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: During this activity students will learn the
different parts of a plant. This is a pre-assessment activity that will show teachers what the students already
know. The students will be asked a series of questions and they will answer them to the best of their ability.
The teacher will give each student a device to access Kahoot and have students enter the game code. All
students will be able to join anonymously and be able to answer without the worry of judgement of other
classmates.
Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☐ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):
1. What are these? Leaves
2. What are these? Roots
3. What is this called? Flower
4. What is this called? Stem
5. What are we studying? Parts of a Plant
Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?
☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
This is a good way for students to be able to correct their notes and their answer. This is a pre-assessment, so
I don’t expect students to get all the answer right and I will stress that to them as all teachers should.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
After the activity students will watch a short video about the parts of plants and will do another activity as to
where students will draw and label the parts of a plant. Students will then do the post- assessment activity.

How will the data be used? The data from the preassessment will help teachers know their student’s
strength and weaknesses. This is a great way to measure what students know before learning the material.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. Kahoot is a new activity for me as a teacher. I feel that
after making the activity students will really be able to understand and apply the information. This SRT
activity can be used as a pre-assessment or a post-assessment. There are an infinite amount of activities that
teachers can do to follow this Kahoot pre-assessment. This is a great tool and fun to use in all classrooms.

Reflective Practice: I think that this is a great activity for students to see how well they understand the
material and for teachers to collect data that is crucial. Teachers could also be used as an introductory to the
lesson itself. This activity is great to share with students as they can share with other students and parents.
