Objective: I am looking for an internship opportunity to work on mechanical engineering

projects where I can gain experience. My main interests are in design and development of
mechanical systems. I am a very friendly, passionate and hardworking person; excited to learn
and to contribute.

EDUCATION
9/2017 – 9/2019 (expected graduation date)
B.S., MECHANICAL ENGINEERING, UC Davis – 3.3gpa
8/2013 – 9/2017
AS-T, PHYSICS & AS-T, MATHEMATICS, West Valley College – 3.4 gpa
Completed Courses in Major:
Statics, Dynamics, Mechanics of Materials, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Engineering Graphics, Circuits, Fluid
Mechanics, Control Systems, Measurement Systems, Manufacturing Processes, Mechanical Design.

EXPERIENCE
05/2018 – present
SHOP/FIELD ASSISTANT, Improve Air Quality Research Center, UC Davis
Assembled and fixed new and old parts of machinery used to automatically take air samples,
such as air pumps, controller chassis and various computer components. Ran functionality tests
on equipment. Salvaged parts from old pieces of machinery. Soldered computer boards.
Travelled to IMPROVE monitoring sites to install and fix air sampling machinery and controllers.
12/2016 – 07/2017
DATA ANNOTATOR, Drive.AI (self-driving car development)
Analyzed hours of video and annotated significant data points. Taught new employees how to
use company software and tools.
11/2015 – 12/2016
MATH TEACHER, Eye Level Learning Center
Taught math to kids ages 8-17. Lead classes while maintaining a friendly environment. Worked
with management to track each student’s progress and make teaching changes.

SKILLS
SolidWorks, NX CAD, AUTOCAD, C++, C, Swift programming, Excel, Lathe, Mill, Drill, Soldering

ACTIVITIES
Officer at UC Davis ASME chapter. On Chassis design team for Chem-E-Car at UCD. Published 3 apps on the
iPhone app store using Swift program language. I was elected captain of my high school football team and won
a league championship on the tennis team. I love to watch and play sports, travel and being with my family and
friends.
Gabriel Donoso Relevant Experience Portfolio:
ork at IMPROVE Air Quality Research Center:
W
1) I soldered and assembled components and complete Air Sampling Controllers, and then ran functionality tests
to make sure they would work properly.

2) I worked on old pumps that were sent back for repair. I would determine if they simply needed top end
cleaning and new gaskets or if they needed interior work such as bearing replacements. Then I made the repairs
and made sure the pumps were working properly afterwards.

3) I repaired faulty relay boxes, by first studying the circuit diagram of the relay box, and then using the
continuity function on an Ammeter to check the voltage at different points in order to diagnose the problem. I
would often solder and repair wire connections and replace faulty relays.
Basic Solidworks FEA analysis:
1) The requirements were to modify a part of a Mini-Vertical Machining Center to increase its rigidity
when a force is applied at the spindle head, while maintaining the original mass.

2) I worked with two others in order to modify the column and bed components to essentially be
more sturdy and to bend less under stress.

3) I applied a load at the spindle head and ran a mesh analysis to observe the stresses and
displacements throughout the model. The original part is below on the left, and the modified one is on the
right. The modified part had an increased rigidity of 51%.
Programming, my iPhone app using Swift & XCode: Finger Futbol Pro Soccer
1) I first set up all objects such as buttons, players, the field and the ball.

2) Using a constantly repeating loop, functions are called depending on the user’s touch and the
objects’ positions in the game.

3) Data such as wins, losses, money and each players statistics are stored in a global structure and are
called, modified and saved throughout the game. In the end this project took many hours of work and
thousands of lines of code.
