What is Medical Marijuana?

Definition:

Marijuana as recommended by a doctor in

the treatment of a medical condition.


Where is Medical Marijuana legal and illegal?

33 states have legalized Medical


marijuana use, some of these are
California, Arizona, Florida, New York,
Michigan, and Colorado

Some of the 17 states that have not


legalized it are Texas, Kansas, Georgia,
North and South Carolina, and Idaho
How Does Medical Marijuana Affect The Body?

Medical Marijuana increases appetite and


reduces nausea. Also it decreases pain
and any inflammation.

increase or decrease anxiety, depending if the Medical
Marijuana contains THC it can weaken your immune
system.

It also increases your heartbeat almost instantly and can


increase or decrease depression.

CBD Oil?
CBD Oil is the concentration of the chemical oil CBD

found in marijuana. This oil does not change the

person's state of mind like THC does, this allows

consumers to receive the benefits of marijuana without

getting “high”

Usually medical marijuana edibles involve the use of marijuana butter or oil

that gets used to bake goods or the dry leafs get turned into powder and

then gets mixed with other ingredients.

Edibles are an alternative to smoking but take longer to take effect

Topicals are an alternative to consuming marijuana if you want it’s pain

relieving properties, they help with dry skin, eczema, muscle soreness,

We called Trumed and spoke with an employee about medical marijuana, we

asked her what are the benefits of medical marijuana. She told us that there are

many but people mostly use it to help with chronic pain, anxiety, and sometimes

an illness like cancer.

These beverages are infused with either CBD, THC, or both. Depending if THC is

used in a drink these beverages can be used as an alternative to alcohol because

of the “high” caused from THC

How to obtain a Medical Marijuana Card
First you must have a prescription from your doctor, then you can either go to a medical

marijuana certification center or apply for a Arizona Medical Marijuana Card online. If

you decide to do it online you must submit any forms you are asked for, after you

complete the application and submit, it takes 1-2 weeks to receive you card. You must be

21 or older to obtain a Medical Marijuana card.

Medical Marijuana & Cancer
The use of marijuana can help relieve the symptoms of

chemotherapy like nausea. Research has been conducted where

THC and CBD can in some cases slow down the growth of cancer

cells or even kill them.

Epidiolex is a CBD product that was recently approved by the FDA to help control

seizures in people with childhood-onset epilepsy.

Findings from research in 2017 found that 43% of those with Dravet Syndrome

and used CBD had a 50% drop in seizures and 5% stopped having seizures all

together,

Charlotte's Web
Charlotte’s Web is strain of marijuana created to have a CBD to THC ratio of 30:1.

This allows even children to use medical marijuana because of the low amount of

THC. Charlotte’s Web is used to treat many things like epilepsy, drug withdrawal,

schizophrenia, and cancer. CBD oil with a THC content of no more than .03% is

legal in all 50 states.
