Objective
3.14 The student will investigate and describe the concept of probability
Content

as a measurement of chance and list possible outcomes for a single

event.

Online Activity The teacher will use voice thread to record a short lesson introducing probability.
To insure the students, watch the video include questions that the students must
answer within in video. (Example: In your own words describe the concept of
probability.)

At the end of the video the teacher will introduce the Probability simulation and
give directions for completion.

Simulation Directions (For students):

1) To access simulation go to:
https://www.explorelearning.com/index.cfm?method=cResource.dspView&
ResourceID=233
2) You will run two sets of simulations and write a short paragraph comparing
the two.
a) Simulation 1:
i) Make sure the number 1 is selected for Number of spinners.
ii) Choose the number of sections you would like to include. (Red
number line.)
iii) Choose the number in which you would like to base your data on.
(Blue number line) Remember to choose a number less than or equal
to the number of sections or your simulation will not work.
iv) Next you must choose one symbol to finalize your favorable out
comes. You may choose from: Less than or equal to, less than, equal
to, greater than, or greater than or equal to.
v) Run 6 trails
vi) When you have completed your first set take a screenshot of your
finding to upload into your assignment document.
b) Simulation 2: You MUST choose different inputs than in simulation 1.

4) Next you must write a short paragraph comparing the two simulations and
explaining why you think the outcomes were different/similar depending on
your data.
5) Save your word document with your last name as the title and upload it to
blackboard no later than 2:00pm Wednesday, November 28th.

Technology  Students will need their computers to complete this lesson plan.
