Event Summary

 High confidence continues that a significant winter storm will impact portions of
the region this weekend and possibly continuing into early next week.

 With this update, confidence is increasing that this winter storm will bring more of
a snowfall threat than an ice threat. However, snowfall and ice accumulation
amounts are highly subject to change given any variability in track of weather
system and temperature forecast.

 Periods of moderate to heavy rain, sleet and snow likely. Freezing rain potential
is decreasing, but multiple changes in precipitation type continue to be possible.

 The greatest impacts most likely across the mountains, foothills and northwest
Piedmont of NC, but possible farther south.

 The details for this winter storm and its potential impacts will become
increasingly more defined towards the end of the week.
