Gurgaon facility has an installed capacity of 350,000 units per annum. The Manesar facilities, launched in
February 2007 comprise a vehicle assembly plant with a capacity of 100,000 units per year and a Diesel Engine
plant with an annual capacity of 100,000 engines and transmissions. Manesar and Gurgaon facilities have a
combined capability to produce over 700,000 units annually.

Manufacturing Processes:
Blanking:

Blanking is a metal fabricating process, during which a metal work piece is removed from the primary metal strip or sheet when it is punched. The
material that is removed is the new metal work piece or blank.

Characteristics of the blanking process include:

 Its ability to produce economical metal work pieces in both strip and sheet metal during medium or high production processes,
 The removal of the work piece from the primary metal stock as a punch enters a die,
 The production of a burnished and sheared section on the cut edge,
 The production of burred edges,
 The control of the quality by the punch and die clearance,
 The ability to produce holes of varying shapes – quickly.
Pressing:

A hot pressing process, particularly for providing metal unions couplings for pneumatic, hydraulic and fluid-operated circuits, and a resulting metal
union. The hot pressing process comprising: a step of preheating aluminum alloy bars, a step of pressing the part to be obtained, a thermal hardening
treatment, and a thermal treatment for artificial aging. The standard cycle further provides for a step of solubilization of the pressed part, performed
between the step of pressing the part to be obtained and the thermal hardening treatment. The alloy preferably comprising (weight percent): Si 0.6-
1.4%, Fe 0.7%, Cu 0.2-0.5%, Mn 0.2-1%, Mg 0.6-1.2%, Cr 0.3%, Zn 0.3%, Ti 0.2%, Pb 0.4%, Bi 0.5-1.5%, balance aluminum. The process can
include a solutionising step after the pressing step.

Welding:

A weld occurs when pieces of metal are joined by causing the interface to melt and blend prior to solidifying as a uniform
metal joint. This process may be caused by heat, pressure or a combination of both. When heat alone is used the process
is called fusion welding.

Pressure welding usually involves heating the surfaces to a plastic state and then forcing the metal together. The heating
can be by electric current of by friction resulting from moving one surface relative to the other.
Painting Process:

Involves coating of car with DuPont paint and making all the anti rust adjustments.

Machining:

turning, boring, drilling, milling, broaching, sawing, shaping, planing, reaming, and tapping, or
sometimes to grinding.

Engine Assembly:

Involves assembly of engine parts with help of human and machine interface.

Inspection:
The ready product is then checked thoroughly for any defects and then certified as ok for use.
Manufacturing facilities

The Gurgaon Manufacturing Facility has three fully integrated manufacturing plants and is spread over 300
acres. All three plants have an installed capacity of 350,000 vehicles annually but productivity improvements
have enabled it to manufacture 700,000 vehicles annually. The Gurgaon facilities also manufacture 240,000 K-
Series engines annually. The entire facility is equipped with more than 150 robots, out of which 71 have been
developed in-house. The Gurgaon Facilities manufactures the 800, Alto, WagonR, Estilo, Omni , Gypsy, Swift
and Eeco.

CSR activities

MSIL is the first Passenger car manufacturing company in the country certified to ISO 14001.MSIL takes extra
care of environment. Various activities are carried out inside the factory, both in Gurgaon and Manesar which
has led to a 60% reduction in fresh water consumption per vehicle manufactured and 20% energy savings since
2000-2001. MSIL is a zero discharge plant and all waste water is recycled or reused. Clean fuel Natural Gas is
used to produce power.

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. has been accorded with various prestigious awards that is Golden Peacock award for
excellence in Eco innovation And Environment management by the world Environment Foundation in 2009 and
007 respectively and “The award for energy conservation” by Haryana Renewable Energy Development
