Abstract

Asphalt and filler have significant role within the flexible pavement mixture. Yet,
regarding current overview, there is still exist vary of road damage types in many location
due to the failing of pavement mixture. Therefore, the aims of this research is to investigating
the Marshall’s characteristic, indirect tensile strength values, and the optimum composition
by using zeolit as a filler and BNA Asphalt (blend 75:25) within the Asphalt Concrete Binder-
Course (AC-BC).
This research has been conducted by making specimen using five variant of filler
levels: variant 1 (100% stone ash : 0% natural zeolit), variant 2 (75% stone ash : 25% natural
zeolit), variant 3 (50% stone ash : 50% natural zeolit), variant 4 (25% stone ash : 75% natural
zeolit) and variant 5 (0% stone ash : 100% natural zeolit). The Marshall test is carry out with
the soaking time in gradually. Firstly, the soaking time is a half an hour, then 24 hours for the
Marshall Immersion Test and the last is the Indirect Tensile Strength.
The result shows that all of those five variant have a better Marshall characteristic
compare with the existing. Moreover, the indirect tensile strength values also shows the
higher result compare with the specimen without zeolit as filler. According to the findings,
variant 2 (75% stone ash : 25% natural zeolit) and variant 3 (50% stone ash : 50% natural
zeolit) are the most optimum composition if compare among all of the variant types.
