STEPS

PART I. Pre-Configuration

1. Rename your Windows Server 2008 PC.


* Server Manager->Change system Properties->Change->Computer Name=(ex.WIN-
SERVER) click OK ->Apply> ok> ok. NOTE: pls. Do not restart your PC!!
2. Set the IP Address of your Win Server 2008 to static.
* Before setting the IP Address of your windows server 2008
First Connect a STRAIGHT THROUGH Cable from your
WIN SERVER 2008 PC to the SWITCH. Then start the IP
configuration.
* Server Manager->View Network Connections->Right Click Local Area
Connection->Properties->Double Click->Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPV4)
Click Use the Following IP Address: Example
IP address: 192.168.1.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

* Click OK

Part II.
Windows Server 2008 R2 – Roles Installation

1. Active Directory Domain Services (ADDS) - Server Manager->


Click roles-> Add Roles->Active Directory Domain Services->
Click Add Required Features-> Next->Next->Install.

2. Domain Name System (DNS) SERVER -> Click (CLOSE THIS WIZARD AND LAUNCH THE
ACTIVE DIRECTORY DOMAIN SERVICES INSTALLATION WIZARD(dcpromo.exe) ->NEXT->NEXT->
Click Create a new domain in a new forest->
-> NEXT -> type in your domain in FQDN of the Forest root Domain ((Ex.(CSS.com)) ->
NEXT
->Forest functional Level=Windows Server 2008->NEXT ->Forest functional
Level=Windows Server 2008 R2 -> NEXT
-> Check DNS Server -> Next -> YES-> Next ->Add your Password Ex.(C1sc0123) then
Confirm type again your password. -> Next -> Next -> CHECK REBOOT ON COMPLETION.
pls. wait for your pc to restart!

3. Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) Server


* Server Manager-> Click roles-> Add Roles-> Click DHCP SERVER->NEXT ->NEXT ->NEXT
->Change the " PREFERRED DNS SERVER IPV4 ADDRESS: To the IP address of your Server
= 192.168.1.1 then click VALIDATE.
->NEXT->NEXT -> DHCP SCOPE -> Click ADD =
Scope Name: Server
Starting IP Address: 192.168.1.2
Ending IP Address: 192.168.1.10
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
-> Click OK -> Next -> click Disable DHCPV6 Stateless mode for this server. ->
Next -> Next -> INSTALL

4. Files Services - Server Manager-> Click roles-> Add Roles-> Files Services
->NEXT ->NEXT ->NEXT ->Install -> Close

5. Print and Document Services - Server Manager-> Click roles-> Add Roles
-> Print and Document Services -> Next -> Next -> Next -> Install.

6. Web Server (IIS) - Server Manager-> Click roles-> Add Roles


-> Web Server (IIS) ->NEXT ->NEXT ->NEXT ->Install -> Close

7. Remote Desktop Services - Server Manager-> Click roles-> Add Roles-> Remote
Desktop Services -> Next -> Next -> Click Remote Desktop Session Host -> CLICK =
Install Remote Desktop Session Host anyway (not recommended)
-> NEXT ->NEXT -> Click Do not require Network Level Authentication -> Next
-> Next -> Next -> Install -> click Close -> do you want to restart now? click YES!
-> pls. Don't do anything after the server pc is done restarting just wait
for it to confirm that Remote Desktop Session is Installed Completely. then just
click CLOSE!

Note: After restart the server pc will ask for username and password. Just
type administrator as username and C1sc0123 as your password.

Part III.
Setting up Windows Server 2008
I. Create (2) Organizational Unit (OU) & (2) User Accounts in each OU.
I.A -> before Creating 2 (OU) & 2 User Accounts, First Create 2 Folder on
your Local Disk D:
Name it Drive Mapping & Folder Redirection.
-> Folder Sharing ->>>>>>> Right Click Drive Mapping-> Properties-> Sharing->
Click Share-> on the Drop Down Menu Find the word Everyone and Click Add ->
Permission Level of Everyone will be READ/WRITE -> Click Share -> click Done ->
->> Click Advanced Sharing-> Permissions
Full Control Check means allow
Change Check means allow
Read Check means allow
-> Click Apply then Ok - Click Apply then Ok last click CLOSE.

-> Folder Sharing ->>>>>>> Right Click Folder Redirection-> Properties->


Sharing-> Click Share-> on the Drop Down Menu Find the word Everyone and Click Add
-> Permission Level of Everyone will be READ/WRITE -> Click Share -> click Done ->
->> Click Advanced Sharing-> Permissions
Full Control Check means allow
Change Check means allow
Read Check means allow
-> Click Apply then Ok - Click Apply then Ok last click CLOSE.

I.B Create (2) Organizational Unit (OU) & (2) User Accounts in each OU.
(O U) User Accounts
VP VP1 & VP2
ADMIN ADMIN1 & ADMIN2

-> Click Start Menu-> administrative tools -> Active Directory Users and
Computers-> Right Click your domain Ex. (css.com) then NEW-> Click Organizational
Unit VP then click OK.
-> Click Start Menu-> administrative tools -> Active Directory Users and
Computers-> Right Click your domain Ex. (css.com) then NEW-> Click Organizational
Unit ADMIN then click OK.

-> Right click VP -> New -> click user -> First Name: VP1
User Logon Name:
VP1
-> Then Click NEXT -> Then Password: C1sc0123

Confirm Password: C1sc0123


-> Don't Forget to uncheck:
* USER MUST CHANGE PASSWORD AT NEXT LOGON
* ACCOUNT IS DISABLED

-> Check the Following:


* USER CANNOT CHANGE PASSWORD
* PASSWORD NEVER EXPIRES

-> Click Next -> Finish.

-> Right click VP -> New -> click user -> First Name: VP2
User Logon Name:
VP2
-> Then Click NEXT -> Then Password: C1sc0123

Confirm Password: C1sc0123


-> Don't Forget to uncheck:
* USER MUST CHANGE PASSWORD AT NEXT LOGON
* ACCOUNT IS DISABLED

-> Check the Following:


* USER CANNOT CHANGE PASSWORD
* PASSWORD NEVER EXPIRES

-> Click Next -> Finish.

-> Right click VP -> New -> click user -> First Name: ADMIN1

-> Then Click NEXT -> Then Password: C1sc0123

* USER MUST CHANGE PASSWORD AT NEXT LOGON
* ACCOUNT IS DISABLED

-> Check the Following:


* USER CANNOT CHANGE PASSWORD
* PASSWORD NEVER EXPIRES

-> Click Next -> Finish.

-> Right click VP -> New -> click user -> First Name: ADMIN2
User Logon Name:
ADMIN2
-> Then Click NEXT -> Then Password: C1sc0123

Confirm Password: C1sc0123


-> Don't Forget to uncheck:
* USER MUST CHANGE PASSWORD AT NEXT LOGON
* ACCOUNT IS DISABLED
-> Check the Following:
* USER CANNOT CHANGE PASSWORD
* PASSWORD NEVER EXPIRES

-> Click Next -> Finish.

II. Drive Mapping Configuration


* In this section we will just Drive Map (VP1) & (ADMIN1)
-> First and foremost go to Local Disk D: -> then Right Click Drive Mapping
-> Properties -> sharing -> then COPY the NETWORK PATH: (example: \\WIN-
SERVER\Drive Mapping ) then close.
-> start menu -> administrative tools -> Active Directory Users and
computers -> click VP OU then on the right side Right Click VP1 -> Properties ->
Profile -> Home Folder ->
-> then right click TO: then PASTE Example = TO: \\WIN-SERVER\Drive
Mapping\VP1
-> click Apply then OK.

-> First and foremost go to Local Disk D: -> then Right Click Drive Mapping
-> Properties -> sharing -> then COPY the NETWORK PATH: (example: \\WIN-
SERVER\Drive Mapping ) then close.
-> start menu -> administrative tools -> Active Directory Users and
computers -> click ADMIN OU then on the right side Right Click ADMIN1 -> Properties
-> Profile -> Home Folder ->
-> then right click TO: then PASTE Example = TO: \\WIN-SERVER\Drive
Mapping\ADMIN1
-> click Apply then OK.

III. Folder Redirection Configuration ( Redirect only Desktop &


Documents!!!!!!!!!!!!!1)

-> First and foremost go to Local Disk D: -> then Right Click FOLDER
REDIRECTION -> Properties -> sharing -> then COPY the NETWORK PATH: (example:
\\WIN-SERVER\FOLDER REDIRECTION ) then close.
-> Start menu -> administrative tools -> Group Policy Management->
-> Right Click CSS.COM -> Create a GPO in this domain, and link it here... ->
Name FOLDER REDIRECTION -> click OK.
-> Right Click FOLDER REDIRECTION -> Click Edit
-> Click the + User Configuration -> click + Policies -> click Windows
Settings -> click + FOLDER REDIRECTION.
-> Right Click Desktop -> Properties -> Target -> Setting: then Click the
Drop Down menu -> click BASIC-REDIRECT EVERYONE'S FOLDER TO THE SAME LOCATION.
-> Find ROOT PATH: then Paste the Network Path: (( example: \\WIN-
SERVER\FOLDER REDIRECTION
-> click Apply -> click Yes -> click OK

-> Right Click Documents -> Properties -> Target -> Setting: then Click the
Drop Down menu -> click BASIC-REDIRECT EVERYONE'S FOLDER TO THE SAME LOCATION.
-> Find ROOT PATH: then Paste the Network Path: (( example: \\WIN-
SERVER\FOLDER REDIRECTION
-> click Apply -> click Yes -> click OK

-> Then Close the GROUP POLICY MANAGEMENT EDITOR


-> Run Windows PowerShell -> type GPUPDATE /FORCE
-> If It Prompts to LOG OFF your PC just Press N for No.
-> Next Don't close Windows PowerShell just minimize it.
>>>>>> LINKING FOLDER REDIRECTION TO YOUR OU <<<<<<<<<<<<<<
-> Start menu -> administrative tools -> Group Policy Management->
-> Right click ADMIN -> Click LINK AN EXISTING GPO.... -> THEN CLICK FOLDER
REDIRECTION -> Click OK.
-> Right click VP -> Click LINK AN EXISTING GPO.... -> THEN CLICK FOLDER
REDIRECTION -> Click OK.

->Go back to Windows Powershell -> type GPUPDATE /FORCE


-> If It Prompts to LOG OFF your PC just Press N for No.
-> Just RESTART YOUR PC.

IV. Printer Sharing and Deployment (Configuration (Install the Printer on Windows
Server 2008)

-> First Install your Printer, in this case we have EPSON L120.
-> If you have an installer just double click it and Follow the Instructions
on the screen.
-> Double Click Epson L120 64bit (64bit) -> on the printer model check if
EPSON L120 SERIES is selected and click OK. -> click OK -> click I agree-> click OK
-> then POWER ON the printer if the onscreen EPSON PRINTER UTILITIES SETUP
appears. Then just wait for it to finish and click OK to finish printer
installation.

-> Start menu -> administrative tools -> Print Management-> click + All
Printers -> right click epson L120 series -> Deploy with Group Policy-> click
Browse ->
-> Double click Default Domain Policy ->
Check = The users that this GPO applies (per user)
check = The computers that this GPO applies to (per machine)
-> Click ADD -> click Apply -> click OK -> click OK

-> Right Click -> click Properties -> click Sharing -> Then CHECK = SHARE
THIS PRINTER -> Click Apply -> click OK.

V. Setup your WAP mode to Access Point & the SSID.


-> Before you begin configuring your ACCESS POINT first RESET the DEVICE and
Find the reset button at the back of you Wireless Access point Device.
-> Press it for about 10 seconds and watch the LED indicator in fron of WAP
device until all lights will LIT simultaneously.
-> Plug the other end of your STRAIGHT cable at the ETHERNET port of your WAP
DEVICE and the other end to your Desktop PC.
-> on your keyboard Press WINDOWS BUTTON + R -> Type CMD.
-> On CMD type -> IPCONFIG and then find the Ethernet Adapter Ethernet: Look
at the example below:
-> Next find the Default Gateway which is 192.168.0.254

-> Open a browser then type the IP on the Address bar example:
192.168.0.254 then press enter.
-> then it will ask you for the username and password. just look under the
WAP device the following Username & Password
-> example username: admin and the password: admin.

-> click on the MODE and select ACCESS POINT then click SAVE!
-> then it will ask you to reboot the device just click YES to reboot.

-> LOGIN again using same credentials. then go to WIRELESS -> WIRELESS
SETTINGS -> NETWORK NAME (SSID): STATION1
-> Next on the drop down menu SECURITY: WPA/WPA2 - PERSONAL (RECOMMENDED)
-> Then on your password: type C1sc0123
-> Lastly don't forget to click SAVE
-> then Close the browser and disconnect the end of your STRAIGHT THROUGH
cable from your laptop and connect it to your SWITCH.

VI. Join your Laptop & Desktop Pc to your domain.


NOTE: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! before joining your client pc. Be sure your Desktop
PC is connected to the switch using a STRAIGHT THROUGH CABLE
and your Laptop just click the WIFI ICON next to your Date and Time.
For fast connectivity of your client PC REMEMBER THIS: UNPLUG THE POWER
ADAPTOR of your SWITCH to restart your SWITCH then after 10 seconds plug it again.
check again your IP ADDRESS.

-> check the ip address of your laptop and desktop pc-> remember on your
keyboard just Press windows button + R then type CMD -> and type ipconfig.
in this example it is the ip address address of your Laptop pc using a
wireless connection or WIFI connection.
check your Connection-specific DNS Suffix it should be css.com the name
of your DOMAIN.
and check your IP ADDRESS and Default Gateway.

-> In windows 8.1 click Start Menu -> right click This PC -> properties ->
click ADVANCED SYSTEM SETTINGS- click Computer Name-> Click CHANGE
-> find the word MEMBER of: then click DOMAIN: and the type the domain name
of your server which is css.com -> then click OK
-> it will ask you for a username and password. just type in Username:
administrator & password: C1sc0123 -> then press ENTER -> wait and it will welcome
to to the css.com domain.
-> then click OK -> click OK -> click CLOSE -> and it will ask you for a
restart just click RESTART NOW!
-> after the client PC restart just click SWITCH USER OR CLICK THE ARROW SIGN

-> Click other user and Login the user accounts of your OU's example: VP1
password: C1sc0123 and press enter.

NOTE: SAME Procedure if you have a windows 7 client & SAME procedure with
your LAPTOP PC.

****************** CHECKING FOLDER REDIRECTION IF RUNNING


*********************
-> after you've login VP1 account kindly check your windows server pc on your
Local disk D: folder redirection folder and check if VP1 folder Exist if you see it
then
folder redirection works.
-> double click VP1 folder -> click desktop -> click continue -> click
security tab -> click continue -> click OTHER USERS OG GROUPS... then on the Enter
the object type E then click CHECK Names
-> then a window will pop up and just double click the word EVERYONE -> click
OK -> then don't forget to CHECK REPLACE OWNER ON SUBCONTAINERS AND OBJECTS
-> click Apply -> click OK -> click OK
-> Then try to open again the Desktop folder and on your client's desktop
just add new folder to check if this folder will pop up on your server PC.

****************** CHECKING DRIVE MAPPING IF RUNNING *********************


-> click on start menu click computer or this pc then find the word Network
locations if this is present then you've successfully configured drive mapping.

VII. Check your Remote Desktop Connection


-> start menu -> then type REMOTE DESKTOP CONNECTION and Click it.
-> In computer name: type your windows server domain: css.com and press
enter.
-> it will prompt to Enter your credentials -> click USE ANOTHER ACCOUNT ->
username: administrator password: C1sc0123 then press enter.
-> click yes then wait and your windows server screen will appear on your
client pc.

NOTE: SAME procedure with your LAPTOP PC.

VIII. Web Server IIS


-> open any browser on your client pc and type in your address bar css. com
and press enter if will display IIS7 internet information services then web server
is configured properly.

NOTE: SAME procedure with your LAPTOP PC.

IX. Print a file from your Laptop.


-> start menu type NOTEPAD then type your name and print.
-> press on your Keyboard CTRL+P to print and Select EPSON L120 Series on
WIN-SERVER then Double Click.

NOTE: SAME procedure with your LAPTOP PC.
