 “Let’s ask the Zebra what does he see?” Then she read from the book, Zebra what do you hear? (Is it see or hear?)
 Reminded students of class rules at the beginning.
 Used the T happy/sad face to ask students behave well.
 Asked a student to set in the front when he was not focusing during the story time.
 Pause for a moment so students set quietly.
Teaching Practice Assessment Rubric Semester 7, 2018
 She asks students to act like the animal either by modeling its sound or action.
 Referred back to the lion’s picture when students called a Leopard a lion.
 Good transition when moved from reading the story to watching the videos. Reminded students of the rules.
 Called students by name to move from Halaqa to the Learning Centers, was smooth but took long time.
 Reminded students to clean up once done with the activity using the turn lights off strategy.

She brought a real plant to teach the different parts of the plant. Good explanation.
She asked students why we use the terms above and under. She gave them examples to help them figure out the answer by themselves. Good.
She did a practice to check students’ understanding in the circle time. Asking students to close their eyes when she puts the objects above or under the chair is a good idea.
She asked students to move by colors to the corners
She turned the lights off to ask students to clean up and go back to the Halaqa.
She counted from 1-10 as well. (Counting from 10-1?)

 Modelled the song for the kids with excitement
 Good use of body language and eye contact.
 Said the name of the animal, asked students to repeat after. (good and needs to ask them say its name by themselves = Gradual Release Model)
 Pointed at the lion and said this sound we call roaring!
 What is the color of his eyes? (Students cannot see his eyes from that far especially with this small book!)
 He have many colors = He has
 What also = what else.
 Wait till Ms. Aisha come = comes.
 Her sound is not clear, especially when reading the story and reading the names of the animals. If this is the first time T reads the story with the students, she needs to
repeat the names of the animals. Show good use of Gradual Release Model here.
 Do not look at the book all the time. Make eye contact with the kids when reading the sentences.
 Good selection of short videos about different animals mentioned in the story.
 Capitalization error in the story book. ‘I Hear A ---.’
 In the drawing activity, turn to the last page of the book where you have pictures of most animals as students were confused when each students wanted to see the
picture of the animal they selected/wanted to draw.

Before moving to the learning centers, she asked students to give a full sentence using above or under describing any objects position in the classroom. Excellent practice to
link the lesson with the real life.
When a student pointed at the same object his classmate mentioned, she asked him to find a different object.
She explained to the students the next activity before moving to the learning centers.
The activity she did with the red group was teacher centered.
“Three blocks above the line and one black block under the line.” One student did it wrong, why did you say to her well done?
Students did not get the concept of above the line. As they were putting the blocks on the line as they are literally above the line!
You could use small tables or hairs for the activity instead of the line to make sure students learnt both positions well.
Good focus on positive behavior. (student x is sitting properly)
