Class Grade 2 Date 23//October/2018

Overall aim and context of the lesson: Questioning students about their prior knowledge of homes around
world and assess their understanding of the concept through Explaining the names of homes, what are they
made of, in which country, and what is the climate in that country

Select (S):
The lesson is covering the different homes around the world to access and elicit student's prior knowledge about them
through discussing the name of the home with the teacher, and demonstrate their understanding of concept

Describe (D):
This lesson is for grade 2 students in science class. I this lesson I am trying to achieve how students could think and
response with the teacher question about the homes through discussion, and then through deeper activity into
completing the sentence of the home after draw. This is ____ home, it is made of ___, it is from ____ country. And
then in the summative assessment students had a 3 different assessment sheet for the 3 levels in the class which is
asked from them to label each name of the home with the picture that describe it. learners we actively engaged

Analyze (A):
In the engaging part students were in the carpet listening to the teacher telling a story about 7 different kids from 7
different countries and homes, in this activity teacher was telling the story saying the child country with providing the
picture of his home and asking students to guess the name of his home based on their prior knowledge. Students were
actively engaged in this part of the lesson as it was a enjoyable from them to hear the story, use their thinking and it
also helps to build their process skills. The story telling in science is the most powerful way to activate learners' brain
about the concept learned, and enhance the student's skills and cognitive thinking (Widrich, 2018) Teaching this
lesson was very well, it was relating to student's prior knowledge and foster their learned information about homes
Appraise (A):
From the student's perspective the nature of the experience was highly good, it was a well-planned lesson with a good
activities that helps student to be highly engaged, and meet the teaching goals sets for the lesson

Transform (T):
I might enhance students learning of this lesson in future through discuss more and relate it to real world. For
professional practice I will try to be more involved with students, relate concept to the real world and discuss
